E-Maculation

(site updated March 6, 2010)

Welcome

E-Maculation is dedicated to emulation of the Macintosh computer in Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. This is possible through the use of emulators such as SheepShaver, Basilisk II, Mini vMac and PearPC.

This wiki is semi-closed: if you want to edit it, you need to register and then send me an e-mail to ask for permission.

How-To

We host a number of setup guides. To emulate a PPC Macintosh and install up to Mac OS 9.0.4, read about setting up SheepShaver for Windows or SheepShaver for Mac OS X. To read about emulating an older Apple machine with an 68xxx processor, try our guide to setting up Basilisk II for Windows. To emulate an even older Macintosh (a Mac Plus running System 6), check out our guide to setting up Mini vMac for Windows. We also host a number of guides dealing with specific issues.

News

There are (slightly) newer builds of SheepShaver and Basilisk II for Windows! And a new build of Mini vMac!

Our guide on how to enable Appletalk for SheepShaver/BasiliskII on OSX hosts has been updated with a script that greatly facilitates setting things up! Appletalk for SheepShaver/Basilisk in Leopard or Snow Leopard (32-bit)

A new guide describing how to enable Appletalk for SheepShaver/BasiliskII on Windows hosts has been added. It allows running Appletalk on SheepShaver with Mac OS from 7.5.3 to 9.0.4 and BasiliskII running Mac OS from 7.5.3 to 8.1 Appletalk for SheepShaver/BasiliskII for Windows 7/Vista/XP (32-bit)

Read about those items, and all of the latest Macintosh emulation news, in the news section.

Support

We host a busy Support Forum. Note: the forum has a registration separate from the wiki. Register for the forum over here.

If you are looking for something very old or something a bit obscure, you might find it by clicking around our old site.
