Is there anything available to open stuffit files in Linux? Stuffit for Windows is helpful in some situations, and it would be nice to have the same on my Linux setup.

I am not aware of an app that will do this.
My installer does not find anything reasonable, when I query for "sit" or "stuffit".
Did you already post this issue at a Linux forum?

There was also an UnStuff for DOS (and a similar utility for Compact Pro) that ought to work in DOSBox.

Thanks, Cat. That will come in handy.

I'd like to re-write the Mini vMac setup guide to make it a bit more generic so I'd like to have some tools that work in Linux, not just Windows.

That is a very interesting target.
Did you already check this site?

I did not try anything myself right now, but may be some files could be helpful for Linux setup.

Another interesting setup might be MiniVMac for PPC/SheepShaver.
For Linux, I prefer to run MiniVMac from a SheepShaver hardfile, because it is pretty simple to copy files to or from it as you can open a small disk image with DiskCopy or MiniVmac alternatively.
SS also comes in handy, if you have to decompress some files for MiniVMac, done with Stuffit5 or 7.
If you wold like to take a look at my MiniVMac files for SheepShaver, they are here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xmovodaizune49b

Better don't open your MiniVMac boot disk with DiskCopy, because it seems to make it unbootable for MiniVMac.

Best wishes!

Pardon me for the bump, but I think folks are missing a rather obvious solution: Using Windows Stuffit in WINE works great.

I guess Ubuntu's Archive manager can open stuffit archives. It recognizes the .sit extension.

:?

HQX too?

I would recommend using the older Aladdin Expander 5.x if using WINE for the best compatibility.

yup. I guess Ubuntu expands files all good only if you use it on a mac. I think the fs may be better than a windows fs(ntfs) :P .
