Through the generosity of PreFab Software and Scott Lawton, a $139 program that adds GUI scripting to the "Classic" Mac OS is now available free. This makes it possible to use Applescript to automate almost anything that runs in the old Mac OS.

The PreFab Player trial version is available here:

And Scott Lawton provided this registration code to unlock the trial software for more than 30 days and make it a full version.

Scott Lawton confirms (in an e-mail to me) that he is making the software freely available to anyone.

I am using the PreFab Player very successfully in SheepShaver running OS 9.0.4. I haven't tested it in Basilisk or in other Mac OS versions.

I'm very grateful to Scott, and I expect many other people will be too.
