OS 8.6 Crashing
I have managed to run OS 8.6 in SheepShaver on Windows Vista (running in Windows 2000 compatibility mode), but every time I launch PictureViewer, the whole thing crashes, and I'm taken back to Windows. I was wondering whether anyone here knew of the cause of this, and a solution?
Also I want to use the internet, how do I do this? The computer I'm running SheepShaver on is networked via Wi-Fi, if that makes any difference.
TIA

Not sure what could cause that. But there are a number of references in the forum to PictureViewer not loading pictures correctly.
What version/build of SheepShaver are you using? If you are using the old build from the official site, try the newer build stickied in this forum. Or vice versa.
I'll try to use PictureViewer myself tomorrow morning and report back here with my results.
(also, welcome to the forum, dave89)

Yup, PictureViewer appears to freeze up SheepShaver for me also, when using OS 8.6.
It works fine in OS 9. So there's a solution.
Internet and networking is really bad in SheepShaver. It crashes a lot. Using the Ethernet driver method will probably give you more stability:

Yeah. SheepShaver for Windows is very, very crashy when it comes to networking.
Meanwhile, you cannot just change the setting to router. You have to go and set it up within the Mac OS. You can adapt the Basilisk II guide fort that purpose:
http://emaculation.com/doku.php/basilis ... line_guide
But yeah, it will still be very crashy.
Basilisk II is very stable, however. Maybe your applications can be used with that?

If you decide to try again, these instructions should help you out:
http://emaculation.com/doku.php/basilisk_ii_setup
(8.6 doesn't work in Basilisk)
