Diablo I plays if I have a physical CD, not image?

About SheepShaver, a PPC Mac emulator for Windows, MacOS X, and Linux that can run System 7.5.3 to MacOS 9.0.4.

Diablo I plays if I have a physical CD, not image?

Post by timvisher »

Hi All,

SheepShaver is _fantastic_! Thanks so much for this!

I have a strange issue with Diablo I. I have an image of the disk that I used to install Diablo. When I attempt to play the game, it asks for the CD and says it can't load diabdat.mpq. If I have the physical CD from which I made the image in the computer, the game works perfectly. I haven't experienced this with any other game (Dragon's Lair, Myst, etc.). I'm wondering what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,
it is true that Diablo will only play with the pysical CD mounted on SheepShavers desktop.
You might try "Virtual DVD-ROM/CD Utility" hosted at macintoshgarden.org. The site is down right now,
but it will certainly be up and running again, soon.
Some people seemed to have fooled Diablo with that utility.
Good luck!
