What is the best browser for SheepShaver running Mac OS 9.0.4? I've tried iCab, but when loading complex web sites (like Macintosh Garden), SheepShaver quits by itself. Mind you, this isn't a big deal (checks disk at next start of emu), but this is annoying. Yes, I could just transfer files using HFVExplorer, but doing so is so annoying (close down emulator, copy file, restart, shut down, etc). This is using slirp. The other two methods won't work because I'm running 64-bit. :(

I need a browser that won't crash SheepShaver using slirp...

I'm using the latest version of SheepShaver (from November).

Tried Classilla? And this is pure curiosity on my part, but did you by any chance do anything with OpenTransport...like down-grade it to a version provided with OS 8.5.x-8.6.... as opposed to sticking with what is provided in the OS 9.0.4 install?

I installed Netscape 7 and it worked. iCab is obviously junk. Though kind of slowly...

Everything else is fast, though ;)

Also, it doesn't seem like Netscape 7 honors Internet Config prefs...do I need a newer version than the one included with 9.0.4?

iCab and Classilla are the better browsers for MacOS 9.

As described in the setup manual, SheepShaver MacOSX 06-11-2010 running in 64-bit mode will crash when iCab is launched. If you want to use iCab, set SheepShaver to run in 32-bit mode. You can set that in Finder Info on the application. Classilla does run fine in SheepShaver 64-bit.

Does any browser honor Internet config prefs? You can set default applications for mail, web, etc there. For other settings, use the browser's preferences.
