Hi,

I am running SheepShaver in Mac OS 9.0.4.

I've figured out how to print to PDF.

Now I want to print to the postscript printer attached to the host OSX machine. It's a Brother HL 1650N, and I know its IP address. The SheepShave setup manual is pretty uninformative on this subject, and I contacted the site editor , whio suggested I contact the forum.

clarity than I can."

Here are the questions I asked:

"I need Classic for just one critical application, and I have been able to run it on my MacPro (10.6.8) using SheepShaver. I can print using the PrintToPDF extension, but I would prefer to print directly to the postscript printer connected to my MacPro on which I am running SheepShaver.

You wrote that you 'still need to work this out [printing] for this guide.'

I am afraid that I was not able to understand this part of your otherwise excellent setup instructions.

What is a LPR printer? I have a Brother HL1650N, and can print to it via Classic with no problem using LaserWriter8. I also know the printer’s IP address.

So how do I set up accessing this printer in SheepShaver with LaserWriter 8 (which is the PPD or whatever it was called that I use in Classic)? I know how to access a printer in 10.x.x. via its IP address, but I never did that in OS9. How does one do it?

Alternatively, you say “You can print directly to a shared printer on the Mac OS X host by setting up a LPR desktop printer with LaserWriter 8 to print to the IP address of the computer on which you have set up a printer to be shared. This will work with any printer.” That would be fine, too.

Exactly how does one do that? I know how to share printers among OS 10.x.x machines, but I do not know how to do that in OS 9.

Hope you can help me.

Thanks in advance."

Oliver

I got it working using the Desktop Printer Utility and the Postscript printer's IP address. Worked instantly.

So I withdraw the question.
