Ok so I am running windows 32bit xp on a dual core machine. I installed sheepshaver by following the guides for windows install on this site and used the disk image links found on the “redundant robot sheepshaver” search. I created a 1g HD file and copied the 9.0 system folder from my disk image to it so now sheepshaver mounts directly from that HD file alone.

So when I try to install .bin files in OS 9.0 I get the error, "the document ____ cannot be opened because the application program that created it cannot be found", its treating it like a document not an application i guess.

The specific file is a trial version of the old ev override game that i DLed from the distributers website on the windows side using firefox then in the sheepshaver mac os 9.0 environment copied it to my 9.0 1g HD file. I have read about the root systems getting destroyed in the windows environment, but how would I download the file in the mac os9 environment? Or prevent this from happening?

Anyway that's the problem can anyone please tell me how to install ev override in sheepshaver on my windows pc!!! love that game!

Your problem probably is that the disk image from redundant robot contains a system folder only. It contains no applications, so nothing that could decode .bin (MacBinary) archives and no web browser that could be used to download things. The whole purpose of encoding into .bin archives is to make the files survive transfer through non-Mac environments. Once they are copied inside the emulator to the emulator's virtual HD, they can be decoded safely. But you will need an application that can do that. A full install of MacOS 9 contains usefull applications like Stuffit Expander and Internet Explorer.

If you do have any other way of acquiring a MacOS install disk, you can find a disk image of a SheepShaver compatible retail 9.0.4 install CD on Macintosh Garden website.

Yes it is missing there. If you are looking for OS9 retail you may look here:
http://www.mediafire.com/sheepmyshaver1 ... aa91bbr3,1
I think the files came from MacGeek417´s server before it went down.
The images inflate to a OS9 retail disk.
And here is another one:

You can also set up OS8.6 with the "New World" ROM, and 8.1 or 7.6 with the 4MB ROM.
The 4MB ROM will also boot with volumes set up with "New World" ROM.
Picking an OS depends on the games you plan to run. Take a look at the games´s release date and make your choice.
In some cases 7.6 was most compatible with old software.

I suggested to look on the Macintosh Garden website. A simple Google search for 'macintosh garden' would have brought you there and browsing the site you would have found these retail install CD's:

7.6.1 http://www.macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac ... -retail-cd

8.1 http://www.macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac ... -mac-os-81

9.0.4 http://www.macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-os-904

(Some may not always be available due to bandwidth limitations.)
