Can't mount volumes

Post by whatisthis7 »

I'm trying to mount a .cdr volume in SheepShaver but it's not working.

I open SheepShaver, go to Preferences, add the .cdr to the volume list, restart SheepShaver, but when I re-open it the volume doesn't initialize or show up on the desktop as I'm told it should in the tutorials I've found.

Any ideas?

Hi,

It depends on the contents of the original disk whether SheepShaver can mount it after you added it to the volumes list.
Did you create the .cdr yourself? Which options did you use while creating it. What disk was it made of?

These are the instructions for creating a disk image from our guide:

- Mount the CD in OSX
- Start Disk Utility (in the /Applications/Utilities folder))
- Select the CD in the list on the left
- Click New Image in the tool bar
- Choose DVD/CD master for the format
- Click Save
- Place the image file where you want to use it and then lock the file in the OSX Finder (checkbox in the Finder Info panel for the file).
- Use the SheepShaver preferences editor to add the image to the volumes list. Shut down and restart SheepShaver. The CD will show up on the desktop.

You would normally only need to lock the image file when you create a disk image of a system install CD.

Best,
