Cannot save the Sheeshaver settings
I installed SheepShaver & I went through the steps but when it comes time to save my settings my computer just hangs. I get the spinning beach ball, I force quit & the whole cycle continues. I erased the prefs file & I zapped the pram but to no avail. By the way I am running OS X 10.5.8 on iMac G5 1.9 ghz, 2.5 GB ram. This is driving me crazy!
Re: Cannot save the Sheeshaver settings
I am new to the Mac, but I have been able to configure Virtual PC, network printers & other apps.

Re: Cannot save the Sheeshaver settings
You wrote that you erased the prefs file. You probably used the script for that, but is a prefs file actually created?
When you launch and again quit SheepShaver, a default prefs file (without the settings you would add and save later) should be created. Try launching SheepShaver, and again quit it (force quit using control-escape at this stage).
Then launch Terminal (in Application/Utilities) and type at the prompt followed by a return.
The file should open in your default text editor.
Does it? Or is reported that the file is not found?
Edit:
You use SheepShaver on a PPC Mac. As noted on the page where the builds are posted, recent builds are less stable on PPC. If you use the latest build, you may have better results with the older 25 October 2009 build:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~ronaldpr/sheepsha ... 091025.zip
(On PPC that build will present at launch an “unexpectedly quit” message that can simply be dismissed and ignored.)

I will follow your advice & install an older build. Thanks for the follow-up.

Re: Cannot save the SheepShaver settings
The build that you sent me worked like a charm. I was going crazy! Thank you very much for all your help. I am now installing the OS. Thanks again!
Re: Cannot save the SheepShaver settings
Sorry for the typo on the subject. I had a very long night trying to get the issue resolved. Thanks again!
