I created an account on these forums just for some help.
This is my SheepShaver folder so far.
And yes, I have tried looking through several tutorials, and I just want a simpler explanation.
This is the 9.0.4 ROM that I got from Redundant Robot, because I cannot spend money on another computer just to get the operating system from.
And I've checked here: http://macintosh463.rssing.com/browser. ... 40&item=32
I have no clue which one I need.
Please, someone just help me with this.
What else do I need to do?!

See that file named "Mac OS ROM.rom"? You need to rename it "Mac OS ROM" (no extension).

Re: What else do I need to do?!
Now my OS 9 image is apparently broken.
I get to see Happy Mac, then the welcome screen, and then SheepShaver crashes.
Any ideas?

You may need to edit your prefs file following the documentation and threads on here. The defaults *should* work, but it's been a long time since I've started from scratch.

I figured out the problem.
I checked the box that says "Ignore illegal instructions", and the one that says "Ignore illegal memory addresses".
SheepShaver cut the crap and booted up like it should.

It's worth persisting, even when SheepShaver crashes "quite a lot". Eventually something minor will get it working. Oh, and it will crash sometimes when you restart the Mac OS or shut it down. I've never known it crash while the Mac OS is actually running though.
