PearPC from source on Linux x64: No Errors No Boot?

Post by lednakashim »

Hi!

I was going to be a hero and maybe work a little on PearPC, I was curoius to see how it would benchmark with different compilers.

I build PearPC with the x64 JIT on Linux x64 installation of Gentoo and I was a bit suprised to find that the mulator build without much error, but when I launch the image it is perpetually shows the loading animation: but also doesn't appear to produce any errors. It simply doesn't boot.

Did anybody have simliar experiences. Anybody have any ideas whats broken?

Hi,

In the prefs file prom_bootmethod = "select" allows you to select the partition from which PearPC should start.

For a clean installation you should select a bootable partition from either a real CD or a CD image you entered in the pci_ide0_master_installed pref.

You can influence the boot process by setting e.g. prom_env_bootargs = "-v". This will allow verbose boot, showing you where the process hangs.

What version of PowerPC OSX are you installing?

Best,
