Can Quicktime run without color?

The System 7.5 QT2 doesn't work on Mini vMac - perhaps I'll try to find an older version that might.

There is topic on MG: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macinto ... ges-german
As far as I recall, the updater and the QT 1.6 disk are multilanguage.
I had some early QT with Amax, a Mac+ emulator.
I can not remember if Quicktime was good for anything without a colour CRT and a CD-ROM.

Thanks . But , later versions only work with System 7 . Version 1.5 needs a Motorola 68020 processor or higher to run . So , it'll only work with a real Macintosh , Basilisk II , SheepShaver or Mini vMac (Mac II Variation) .

I installed Mini vMac's IIx Variation . I don't like color , but I still have to keep them for Basilisk II and SheepShaver . So , I kept it in a nice grayscale color . Since I'm aiming for Black and White videos , I should have put it in B&W . But , I'll test grayscale along . Anyone knows where to get some sort of sample video for Quicktime 2.5?

I did accidentally compile mini vMacIIx without colour. It was basically a Plus with a large screen, potentially networking when MVIIX gets it, and a 68020.

Here's one, though 2.5 included a sample movie.

Thanks alot , Ambassador . It's not sarcasm . I couldn't find a sample movie in the net , so you really helped me there . Where did you get that video , anyway?

My setup didn't come with a sample movie .

Here are some more files. Most of them came with QT2 on the System D1-7.5 CD.
I was very fond of the Ducatis in Infobahn those days. (and of the speaking cat of course.)
The Ape movie with ex Federal Chancellor Dr. hc. Kohl was a big hit in Germany.
I made a few files of my own, but I would have to look for those.

Thanks for the archive , but most of the movies are corrupted! It'll crash in both Basilisk II and Mini vMac .

Oh, what a pity. I´ll download the file and check it.
They were all right with BII and QT2 before I uploaded.
Quite often QT files are not downward/upward compatible.
Which version did you use?

Edit1: I tried. The files seem to be playable with BII System 7.5.3, QT 2.1 on Mandriva and Snowy host.
The INFOBAHN complaines about too little memory, but that could be fixed I guess.

Edit2: The files also play with TataMisia's image: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macinto ... disk-image
with BII. That image uses QT4.

Please play the "Anime Movie Cine" in a loop.
Would you like to have some QTVR files too?

They don't work with Quicktime 7 . Must they play with older Quicktime versions?

Just did a search for the first one. It was part of an old article.

http://www.quicktime3.com/samples.html has a lot of good sample videos.

The files I uploaded, play with QT2 System7.5 or QT4 System7.5.5 (TataMisia´s image) with BII.
Some newer Apple movies will play with QT 10 :-) or SS, OS9, QT4: http://www.mediafire.com/?79fo6kpsme8bvb6

Added some QT3 files including the famous "Splash" movie:

Files should play with SS, OS9, QT4 or QT7 on a more recent Mac.
