I tried to run a game called escape velocity on this emulator and i got an error that said
Sorry an error occured while trying to open the monitor tool Id = -3
Does anyone know why i get this error and how i can fix it?
ERROR?????
Moderators: Cat_7, Ronald P. Regensburg
Q: When I try to run a certain game (example: Escape Velocity), I get an error message that says something about a "Monitor Tool" and the game won't run.
A: The game requires 256 colors as most 68k Mac games do. Basilisk II cannot switch resolutions "on-the-fly" during an emulation session. You will need to shutdown Basilisk II and set it to 256 colors using the Monitors tab of the Basilisk II Configuration Utility (BasiliskIIGUI), then try again.

Re: ERROR?????
Replace the Basilisk II executable with the "gamma ramp patch" available on this site:
http://gamma.nic.fi/~lpesonen/BasiliskII/
You can not use the JIT version of Basilisk II.

That is a segment load error. (Technical term)
It could be that whatever plugin you are adding is for PPC Macs only. Or it could be that you need a registered copy of EV to add plugins. Or it could be that the plugin requires a MMU (which the Mac emulators don't have).
Which particular plugin are you trying? I'll see if I get the same error.

I just used the Ships Galore II plugin from here: http://www.datacanyon.com/mirrors/ambrosia/ev/plugins/ShipsGalore%202.5.sea
After turning up EV's memory settings the plugin appears to be working. I'm using Basilisk II JIT on Windows 2000 Pro SP2 and Mac OS 7.6.1 witha ROM checksum of F1A6F343 (whew). My BasiliskII_Prefs file looks like this:
