Authentic Apple CD-ROM SCSI Vendor Information

Post by The Balance Of Judgement »

I am looking for the correct information to place in the GUI of Basilisk II so that Mac OS sees my DVD drive as an authentic Apple CD-ROM drive. There is an option to replace the Vendor ID of a current SCSI device with another type. This would seem most usefull in my case where I want my Macintosh to really think it has a real CD from Apple.

So far I place the Vendor as "Apple" and the Product Name as "12X CD-ROM" but I am pretty sure that is not the actual information supplied by Apple. Any takers as to what the coreect information is?

Thanks.

Trying to find that information for my previous CDR-Ws was pretty much unsuccessful.

What I do nowadays is select the drive from the bottom part of the SCSI tab where it says "Add...". Toast then recognizes the drive as the exact model for my PlexWriter 40/12/40A.

I posted in another forum and got this reply:

"Hang on 2 secs, I'm booting my 7200. :D
Ah, this *should* trick it, a drive pulled from a 575.
Vendor: Matsh!ta <- I'm turning OFF that damn censor!
Product: CD-ROM CR-8004
Version 1.1f"
