I have a few problems running various versions of Basilisk II with my two Windows machines.

I originally got a Mac emulator because I wanted to mess around with Macintalk, and run the Mac versions of some old games I had.

My laptop is shackled to 64-bit Vista so no CD-ROM support there so I can't install those games.

My desktop is a Dell XPS with 32-bit XP and a Core 2 Duo processor. Here's where it all goes wrong.

Yes, I get the black screen of no-graphics-while-sound-runs-fine. I can get around it by either reducing RAM to like 4 MB, or by running 0.9 JIT R1. Here's where the problem sets in. The games need more RAM, and 0.9 JIT R1 only lets me run in Millions of Colors mode while the games run only in 256 colors.

Does .9 really limit you to using millions of colors? Do you have a GUI? Can you adjust the colors setting?

Is there any way around the black screen in the more recent builds other than lowering RAM?

What I meant was do you launch Basilisk II from a GUI? Can't you adjust the color settings there to 256?

You can drop in a GUI from a later version of the emulator if one wasn't included in the version you downloaded.

Not sure of how to get around the black screen at this time. :(

The GUI I have only allows me to change resolution. Is there one that lets me force 256 colors?

Never mind. The GUI you uploaded in the topic "Basilisk II JIT 3 GUI" let me force whatever color depth I wanted. I'm using it with the 27-08-2008 build made from the 142 build. No more problems except that I have to restart every time I want to switch color depths.

In fact, I'm posting this from inside the emulator!
