disk images

Post by bamdad »

another seemingly stupid question:

what is the maximum disk (image) size basilisk (and/or a 68k mac9) can handle?

i'm trying to create a 4 gb (4096 mb) image to copy all my stuff onto and use it in sheepshaver and basilisk. if i format it to hfs+ (with os 9 on sheepshaver) i have no trouble at all. on the other hand, when i try to format it to hfs under os 7.6.1 in basilisk, i get the error 'disk initialization failed'.

Hi,

Whatever the maximum size, I would try to stay on the safe side and limit myself to 2 Gb images. You can create several of then, all showing up as individual hard disks in Mac OS.

Best,
