Cannot obtain appropriate X visual

Post by play_sc »

Hey,

I followed all the instructions for Basilisk ii (very well written), but when I click start in the BasiliskIIGUI (Step 8. under Running BasiliskIIGUI) I get a BasiliskII error cannot obtain appropriate X visual. There is only a quit button available.

I do not know what the error message means or what could be causing it.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

You don't mention which host operating system you use. Is it a windows variant? Or OSX?
If you are running OSX Lion, then the GUI will not (yet) work. The GUI is PPC only still, and the newer Intel-only GUI doesn't run with Lion yet.

Best,

BasiliskII (4 October 2009) and BasiliskIIGUI should both run fine in 10.5.8. You came as far as step 8, so BasiliskIIGUI runs.

- Are BasiliskIIGUI and BasiliskII itself in the same folder?
- Which ROM file do you use and did you set the path in BasiliskIIGUI?
- Did you provide a startup disk for BasiliskII, either mount an appropriate system install CD in MacOSX or add an appropriate startup disk to the Volumes list in BasiliskIIGUI?
