Hello,
I was playing apeiron, and I got an error that stated "monitor tool could not be opened. this program requires a color-capable macintosh.."
therefore i changed the color to 256 color palette, and that fixed the problem. The game is now playable, but it is in greyscale. Nothing else seems to work. My system is identified as LC/Quadra/Performa 630... i am running the old 142 version of basilisk II.
How can i fix this? thank you for your help im sure it's something small that I am missing.
256 color, but Greyscale?

Re: 256 color, but Greyscale?
I also wanted to state that it seems all games require this 256 (8bit) color requirement to play. I just got the same monitor message with "Factory" (an old game) and i can switch it to 256 color palette, but then everything is greyscale... help!
Re: 256 color, but Greyscale?
Depending on your version of the installed Mac OS, go into your Control Panels, select either "Monitors" or "Monitors and Sound", and there should be a radio button (circular button) that lets you pick grayscale or color.
