System 6 in Basilisk II?

Post by Ambassador »

Is System 6 + MacII ROM possible now with Basilisk II? Or should I be looking at MiniVmac or MESS now? :)

Your best bet is the custom Mac II build of Mini vMac. Basilisk II doesn't emulate based on the ROM you use, and so may glitch for some ROMs that expect different hardware/etc. than BII emulates. Even in its beta state, Mini vMac is the second most stable Mac II emulator I've found (the first, if I recall, was Fusion).

It'd be kind of nifty to merge Mini vMac emulation support into BII (in such a way that BII could build against new updates to Mini vMac), but that'd be a LOT of work (and isn't likely to be done any time soon).

SoftMac runs System6 too, just for completeness sake.
Sound is not working, but the same is true for MiniVMac_II. :(
