Hello everybody,
I'm trying to install OS 8.1 from a CD ISO file without any success. When I add the isofile itself to the Volumes tab on Basilisk it will boot but gives the message " The system software on the startup disk only functions on the original media, not if copied to another drive." Somehow it is not seen as a CD-Rom this way.
Than I mounted the ISO in OSX, but than I always get a Question mark from Basilisk.
Host is OSX 10.6.8, latest Basilisk version.
By the way.. is there a nicer way to shutdown Basilisk on a failure than using Force Quit?
How to install 8.1 from ISO file (OSX 10.6.8)

Hi,
You should lock the 8.1 iso (making it read-only). That should make Basilisk boot from it.
There is no fix for the need to force quit.

Bedankt,
It's working now... so simple and so effective.

I found that many 'iso' images out there aren't bootable, but have the files on them. It's a real pita.
This is why I took that System 7.5.3 on Apple's site, and converted it to a bootable ISO
https://sourceforge.net/projects/cockatrice/files/OS/
Maybe it'll help?

don't do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

Good thought.
I did that something similar some time ago and posted the result on Macintoshgarden.
Did you remove A-Rose from the Extensions folder?
You will know that it crashes BII and it is rather useless, except for a real Nubus Mac with a card looking for that extension.

I want to say I did from the booting portion of the CD, but the installer probably can/will still place it.24bit wrote:Good thought.
