I do not know if this question has already been asked, but is there any reason to prefer MacOs 8.1 to 7.6.1 ?
7.6.1 is faster to boot, low in resources and I like more its simple (yet very modern) flat appearance. MacOs 8.1 ha surely a better software architecture, but does that translate in a higher system stability ?
So far, at least on B2, anything that runs on 7.6.1 runs the same on 8.1; I think that while for PPC MacOS 8.x has way better performances, for 68k there were no similar improvements.
Any suggestions ?
thanks
bye

Re: BII mac OS 7.6.1 or 8.1
My system of choice is 7.6.1 under 040 emulation. I've run across a few titles that require 8.1, but for the most part, 7.6 1 fits the bill.
I was running 7.6.1 from the day it was released right up until 2001, at which point I started running it under emulation. Some of the stuff I do is still easier/faster under 7.6.1 than via the software available on a modern OS.

I found 8.1 to be more stable, and being bettr at mounting afs over ip.
Plus internet stuff, and all that jazz. I mean memory is cheap today, so it's not like I only have 12MB.
Plus you can drop in a gigabyte!
