System 6 Shareware Games
Moderators: Cat_7, Ronald P. Regensburg
We're now at 54 games and applications. Once again I bent the rules a little bit to allow a game from the 90s. It's "Gnop!" from 1990:

I included this one because it was the first ever game released by Bungie (now of HALO fame)! It is a shareware PONG clone.

After a long delay, I've updated the page again:

One more new game! Also, following an e-mail complaint, I ran all the images through an old version of Disinfectant and removed the macos nvir viruses that were infecting some of the games.

If these can be converted to .dsk, that would be great. I played Zoony back in 1991 and loved it - never did beat it either. I'm itching to try again.

I'll make a disk image containing "Zooey" when I am finished traveling (about 10 days from now). But meanwhile, you can probably expand it yourself, within the emulated environment. You don't need me to help!
If there are any other standouts on that page, I can add them to the collection. Do let me know... there are so many files floating around that unless I have recommendations, I just do them alphabetically.

Since you asked, Star Wars, Trek, and the Zork games.
Two other cool titles from that era seemed to have vanished: Mac Golf and Mac Football. Mac Golf was one of those "click three times to hit the ball" type of golf games; Mac Football was super-simple and lots of fun. You just picked your team and selected plays - the result of the play would be would be displayed by a football positioned on a field. Just a coach mode game, but a really good one.
There was another text adventure game involving Dracula, but I can't remember the title. It was a good one too.

I uploaded Trek:

That's the only game from the bunch that is free/shareware. Too bad. But it's not all bad... Trek is a wonderful game! It has much more depth than a lot of stuff from the era.
I didn't find Mac Golf or Mac Football, but I'm going to upload a few sports games from the same era.

I added "Radical Castle" after it was featured as a MacScene.net "Retro Game of the Week."

At last... an update! I added the "Window Demo" from 1982. That's the bouncing Pepsi Caps demo that some of you might already know. I pulled it from Mac GUI City which says that it might be the oldest surviving piece of Macintosh software!

I received a hard disk image from a reader containing a selection of his favorite games, so I've started adding them into the collection.
New today are a Missile Command clone from 1984 and a very solid Monopoly game from 1987. The Monopoly game is shareware, but who knows if the author had permission from Parker Brothers.

Re: System 6 Shareware Games
I (finally) added a few new games.
Risk:
http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/system_6_hell#risk
and Toxic Ravine:
http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/sys ... ue_service
I was inspired to add these games after reading reviews of them on this blog:
http://6-bleen-7.livejournal.com/106670.html
Meanwhile, I always prefer to add games that are recommended rather than games I find by poring through Macintosh Garden. Do feel free to post suggestions. Remember that I only post shareware and freeware from the 1980s (including commercial games from the era that have since been made freeware).

Re: System 6 Shareware Games
Any chance to get any abandoned Sierra games on that list for download? GoldRush, King's Quest, etc? Or Life&Death or Winter Games?
Btw, this site is awesome and has already been amazingly helpful
Thank you for any help. Been REALLLLY trying to get these games to run and can't wait to actually see em again
