Installing System 7.5.3 in SoftMac

Post by ClockWise »

I spent all morning trying to setup SoftMac from scratch using the system 7.5.3 images on Apple's site. But System 7.5.3 doesn't install. It just hangs during the installation procedure. After I hit "agree" to the EULA, it hangs on "verifying 'sys7.5.3...'"

Anyone manage to install an OS withing SoftMac, rather than just using pre-existing disk images?

A bump and a screenshot, just in case anyone cares enough to give installation of system 7.5.3 a try...

It does not even start installation, it hangs verifying the CD disk image before mounting. Are you sure all 19 parts of the CD disk image are OK?

Jim told me what my problem was:

In SoftMac, you cannot install the OS from an .hfv image. You must install it from an SCSI disk image (i.e: the 19 images must be located on the .dsk image).
