Hi guys!

I succesfully installed English version of MacOS 7.5.3 and upgrade it to 7.5.5 with how-to at this site. Also, i configured TCP/IP and install iCap. It's working perfectly.

But when i want browse site, contained Russian characters, i see wrong characters and wrong fonts. I think, MacOS 7.5.5 English not contained Russian fonts by default.

I found link to download Russian version of MacOS 7.0.1 and updates to Russian version 7.5.5 at Apple site: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Su ... tem_7.0.1/ When i expand this archives with StuffIt Expander i give files: Install 1.image, Install 2.image, etc. I try put this files into HFV disk image, but i can't open it in MacOS 7.5.5. Then i write 'disk j:\apple\install1.image' string to config file, but no effect (when basilisk booting i see diskete icon with question mark). Third i try open this files with HFVExplorer, and again, i can't do this.

How can i open this .image files? May-be special tool for converting this format to standart Basilisk .dsk format? Maybe special ROM file needed? Any ideas?

Help me please install Russian version of MacOS. I want take some screenshots from MacOS 7.5 with running browser, displayed one of russian forum (with correct fonts) and then show it to my friends. If you need more information, ask me.

My configuration: Basilisk II build 23_07_2008 win32, ROM: QUAD650.ROM

Sorry for my terrible English :(

With best regards,
Sergey

Hi,

You need to open the .image files with the program called "disk copy". That way you get images of the install disks you can use.
If not on your Mac, you can download it from apple/the internet, like here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/312

Best,

I run Disk Copy, then open folder contained my .image files and drag Install1.image to Disk Copy window. I got an error: 'The file "Install1.image" does not have a recognized file type'. What I doing wrong?

Did you unstuff the images in Windows?

You need to unstuff the images AFTER they are in the emulated environment. Otherwise, you will get an error like you reported.

Oh, you right. I unstuff images in Windows and then copy to HFV.

I now try unstuff images in MacOS 7.5.5 and mount to Disk Copy. It's okay, but at "Fonts 2.image" Basilisk II have a trap (Windows say: This program run invalid instruction bla-bla-bla). This error are repeating.

Yes, Basilisk II for Windows often crashes. You should reboot your emulated machine and try again.

If it crashes every time, you can try using a different version:

http://emaculation.com/doku.php/basilisk_ii

What version are you using now? Try the 23 July, 2008 version. You can just replace the .exe.

If that version is crashy, try the pre-jit Build 142 version. That version is very stable and solid. Just set it up in a different directory, since you cannot share the pref file.

I used two versions of Basilisk:
First version is build 23.07.2008. It's crashes when i trying copy files from mounted floppy "Fonts 2.image" to folder at .HFV hard disk image.

I don't remember when i download the second version, exe file size is 1 725 440 bytes and date 01.05.2006. If i use this build i can't run Disk Copy program - when i start this i see error message: "Disk Copy could not update the disk image driver. Please unmount all disk images and try again". The same situatian, when i trying use pre-jit Build 142 version.

I will try it on my system and see if I can reproduce the error. I will let you know what happens.

It will be great! If you have positive results, can you copy all files from diskete images to small .HFV hard disk image (10 or 15 Mb) and send to me (or upload to depositefiles.com)? Many thanks in advance.

WBR,
Sergey.

I could not reproduce the error. There is probably something different between my system and yours. Maybe the ROM image.

If you have some time, it would be good to find the "redundant robot" tutorial guide and download the PERFORMA rom. I just tested that one and it works.

Anyhow, I copied all the stuff you want. This should be it:

http://www.emaculation.com/basilisk/russian.rar (19 mb).

Thank you very much for help, I download your file.
Nevertheless, I could not install it :( When i run installer i don't see right russian letters and i can't read installer messages.
I found this topic, caled "Russification of Macintosh" : http://www.friends-partners.org/partner ... irror.html and i try copying fonts from MacOS 7.0.1 russian to MacOS 7.5.5 english, but no effect. I still don't see russian messages in instalator.

Image

At the touch, i start install system and get strange window with one button. I think, this message "Please insert next installation disk in drive and press OK". I do not know what to do. How can i exchange diskettes?

It seems you are running an installer. How about just mounting all of the images and then running the installer from the mounted disk image? You wouldn't have to copy the files over yourself (which is what causes the crash). Forget about my files.

Meanwhile, I don't think I can help you with the language issue. That's beyond my abilities.

I got interested in this, and installed the Ultimate Cyrillic Script package in a System 7.5.5 setup.

Edit: download link removed, as it's no longer needed (see below).

Great thanks to all. I am installed the Ultimate Cyrillic Script package to my english system 7.5.5 too, and iCap browser began to display russian fonts properly. That's all I needed. Maybe later I'll try to install a fully Russian system. Thank you very much. :)
