They tell me that the PearPC Control panel is hard to find, so I made a page for it in the wiki:

http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/pea ... trol_panel

It includes the version best suited for the 0.4.0 release and the slightly modified version for the "redscorp" release.

You can also download the source code (for the original version).

The page also includes a note that maybe it is better to use the online config file generator and launch the emulator from a command prompt. There are instructions about doing that.

Let me know if there is anything else from the past that might be hard to download. My archives are huge!

Someone sent me an e-mail report saying that the Control Panel doesn't work in Windows 7. Can anyone test this?

As you can see from the post above yours, you are not the only one who has reported some difficulties in using the Control Panel in Windows 7.

Here are two ideas:

1. Did you follow the instructions in the guide: http://emaculation.com/doku.php/pearpc_setup ? Following those will make sure it is not a user error that is causing the problem.

2. The PearPC control panel is not necessary. You really don't need it. There is a note in the introduction about using the online config file generator instead and launching the emulator from a command prompt.

Panther is okay.

I think we have learned that the Control Panel is not good in Windows 7. You will have to do without the control panel. There are some notes about that at the start of the guide, and we can walk you through here in the forum.

But first, when you say this:

"because i have tried to not use the control panel but it lets me install it and then then the window closes and it says restart. "

Are you talking about the control panel or OS X?

Installing what?

Forget about ape.jar and everything else, like I said. Just use the official emulator download.

I'm still unsure of what you are doing and what you have accomplished.

Here is what you can do to run PearPC:

1. Download the emulator, assemble your blank disk image, OS X CD, etc. Download link is here: http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/downloads.html

2. Fill in your particulars in the online config file generator and save a config file: http://guillaumejamet.eu/index.php?rub= ... rpc_cfg.ph

3. Boot PearPC from the command prompt: http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/getstart.html#starting

4. Install OS X in the emulated environment.

Do these things and let me know if it works. Forget all that other stuff you might be doing. If it doesn't work, give me some specific details of what

First: you made the config file with all of your specific details, right?

And are you launching it like this:

http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/getstart.html#starting

I'm not sure how it works in Windows 7, but in Xp it is like this:

"Start menu" --> "Run" ----> type "cmd" and then in the command prompt window browse to your PearPC directory (browse by typing, for example, "cd c:\pearpc"). And then to launch type "ppc configfilename" where "configfilename" is the name of your file.

Does this help?

Here's the link again:

http://guillaumejamet.eu/index.php?rub= ... pc_cfg.php

All you have to worry about is the "disks" section. Everything else can be left at default for now. And in the disks section you can read the explanations at the link to make the proper selections and paths. Basically, you should select both a master and a slave. One of those will be your OS X install disk and one of those will be the bootable disk image you will install to.

Give it a shot.

Make this change and try again:

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_type = "cdrom"
pci_ide0_master_image = "Mac OS X Install Disc 1.iso"

Is the ISO in the same directory as the pearpc executable? Based on your config file, it should be.

The problem seems to be that PearPC is not locating the ISO, or it is not a good ISO. If it is not a good ISO, you need to try another one. Remember, it should be 10.4 or earlier.

Hi,

Are you using the 4 panther install disks available from some well known website? If so, is the name of the first image correct? One imagename has "disk" in it's name, the others have "disc". (or the other way around)

I see in the config: pci_ide0_master_image = "Mac OS X Install Disc 1.iso"
and pearpc error:
[io/ide] <error> Mac OS X Install disk 1.iso: could not open file <no error>

Earlier on I saw
[IO/IDE] <Error> Mac OSX 10.3 Panther CD1.iso: could not open file <No error>
Are you trying with all these disk images?

Best,
Cat_7

ok first problem when i was moving the disk image and iso it said i dont have enough disk space on my c drive. but i dont think many other people have this but i have 2 internal drives. (my D drive). i have tons of space on that. so i can move the whole file to my d and have everything in one place. BUT my cmd box (its the same i vista and windows 7) its stuck to my c drive how do i change that. it says C:\Users\l14lambd>
