Hi all,

First post on the forum which has lots of great info.

I have been trying to get Norton Disk Doctor 4.0.3 and 6.0 to run without success. I have seen the thread by Verizon and will try the suggestion of increasing the Disk Cache size.

Does anyone know whether there is a definitive list available of software that does NOT work under Sheepshaver emulation.

Thanks for any info.

I don't think the doctor will work, because it is meant for ATA or SCSI disks rather than for SS's emulated "floppy" drives.
Speed Disk and System Info can be run nevertheless, and Disk First Aid is available for basic repair.
Some members listed their GO and NO-GO apps, but there is no "complete" listing as far as I know.
Besides, things will differ according to host and/or MacOS unfortunately.

Maybe you would like to begin with such a database?
Best wishes!

norton's disk-doctor does not run on sheepshaver. only "speed-disk" does work, at least when launched directly and not via the main menu. speed-disk can be used for defragmenting disks.

for correcting errors i recommend "disk warrior" (version 2.1) which is the better choice anyway - even on "real" macs. disk-doctor spends most of the time complaining about "bundle-bits" and often fails correcting serious errors.

Changing the Disk Cache size made no difference. So Disk Doctor will not run, even from its own CD, as others are probably aware.

Yes, I have used Diskwarrior successfully, and it is my "weapon of choice".

Thanks for the replies.
