This will allow direct usage of floppy images with the GUI itself.

Do you mean using floppy disks or using floppy disk images?

You can use floppy images now. Just add the image files to the volumes list in the GUI.

I mean using floppy drives from the host OS.

The Basilisk 142 build for windows can do that.
