I have the latest stable build of SShaver with Mac OS 9.0.4, and all is running well except for the odd program here and there. However I can't get QT 4.1.2 to play video in movies, just audio. I can make movies in 3d apps and programs like Morph, but they don't show any visuals. Should I go up a version in QT, or try re-installing Quicktime 4.1.2?

Are those movies in a format that QT should be able to show? If so, it could be that those movies require a later QT version or require video hardware that is not emulated in SheepShaver. Better not install a later version of QT, version 4.1.2 is the latest version that is fully compatible with SheepShaver (because of limitation in the emulated machine).

Can you show us a movie that does not work? (Post it somewhere and provide a link to it here.)

They are QT generated files from programs much older than QT 4.1.3.

Also the basic Apple QT movies have the same result. You know, the old QT movie with music nd the QT logo showing radial wipe effects.

The one, with the QT logo turning into a red Apple logo, that came with QT 4.1.2 runs fine here. Also the "1984" movie (file saved in 1997) runs fine here. But a 2002 movie presenting a new iMac gives a warning about a missing compressor and only plays the sound.

Older QT movies should play. Maybe something is wrong in your 9.0.4 setup.
1. Did you do a regular installation of 9.0.4 (or installation of 9.0 with 9.0.4 update), using (an image of) a general retail install disk?
2. Did you upgrade directly from the QT provided with 9.0.4 to QT 4.1.2?
(If you installed a later QT version, you cannot simply downgrade by installing 4.1.2, you need to manually remove all QT related files from the System Folder first.)
3. Did you install the language version of QT that matches the language of your 9.0.4 system?
(Just to be sure. With QT, a different language version should not be a problem.)
4. Did you install any other software that installs files into (subfolders of) the System Folder?

I recall from another thread, that MoviePlayer 2.1 (the one that came with the clipping extensions) should work best in emulation - disregarding the installed QT version. I did not investigate myself, because QT7 plays all files on a OSX host. On my emulated systems it´s usually hit and miss for me.

The old Movieplayer 2.x runs just faster in Sheepshaver, and it allows access to Quicktime export features without a Pro key.
