Hope someone can help me with a technical question?

I downloaded the rpm from the website, the clinet binary it was called, and I am running SUSE 9.0 Desktop edition. It recognised the rpm and offered to "install with YAST", I did this as root and after a very brief moment of YAST appearing, it then disappeared without error message, and none of the files were installed.

So... a) is my distro too crap to figure out the maconlinux distro? b) am i missing essential libraries for this package c) can I just open the rpm and copy the files all over the system in the hope it might work?

Thanks

you might be able to copy all the files from the rpm, try that and say what it does.
If you are using x86 linux, then maconlinux won't work. It runs on PPC linux only.

Does anyone know if maconlinux will only run on a PowerMac that is running linux, or can it be any PowerPC computer that is running linux?

Can run, in theory, on any PPC machine running a relatively recent version of Linux (probably needs to have a 604 compatible processor or newer). Seem to be a good number of folks using it on those Pegasos boards...

perhaps trying to combine maconlinux with a cpu core from ppc, sheepshaver or qemu would eventually allow running mol in x86 linux.

Qemu would be your best choice if (When) the emulated processor is capable of running Mac OS's. You should in theory be able to launch MOL through a native X86 linux dist.

Qemu can already launch wine through user mode emulation.
