Emulated Mac OS 7.5.3 (Revision 2) Doesn't Play .mov Files

Post by jippalippa »

Hello.
After a bit of trial and error i installed Mac OS 7.5.3 (revision 2) on my OS X 10.10.5 Machine with Basilisk II (build 2014-03-01).

Everything seems to be working fine; no major issues, no explicit glitching.
There's only an annoying problem; despite having installed all the extentions, and having Quicktime 2.1 installed onto the virtual machine, the system fails to open any .mov file

I tried to open the "Apple Video Player" but it shows this error:

Any idea on how to solve the issue?
I really need my system to be able to play mov files.

Thanks.

Where did you find "Test 01.mov" and "Apple Video Player"? Maybe they belong to a later version of QuickTime?

With System 7.5.3 and QuickTime 2.1, a "Apple Movie Player" and a test movie "Apple Logo Movie" may be installed. The first time you start Appel Movie Player, you need to personalise your copy of Apple Movie Player.

You can also install Internet Config, which will allows you to associate the .mov file extension with Quicktime. Otherwise, you may find you need to change the file type to get Quicktime to open it, and the file creator to get it to open by default.
