can't access SCSI CD Drive under OS X

Post by eby »

Hi all, I've been trying to access real SCSI CD drives from Basilisk II, SheepShaver and Mac-on-Mac. i've set the values "pollmedia true", "nocdrom false", etc... it simply doesn't work

does any one know which args are used ?

ps. system profiler simply reports No information found 8O, but all of them works and i can boot from them in Qemu, 8O 8O strange.

Hi,

AFIAK SCSI HD/CD's were supported in the earlier (pre JIT) versions of Basilisk II. The developer has deceided to not (yet?) port the code to the newer versions of Basilisk or SheepShaver.

If you search for build 142 of BasiliskII you will find SCSI support in there.
You need the Windows ASPI drivers from Adaptec to access the drive. A utility like SCSI probe will come in handy too.

In the prefs file, scsi entries look like this:

scsi0 "QUANTUM" "ATLAS10K2-TY184L"
scsi1 <Free SCSI slot 1>
scsi2 <Free SCSI slot 2>
scsi3 <Free SCSI slot 3>
scsi4 <Free SCSI slot 4>
scsi5 <Free SCSI slot 5>
scsi6 <Free SCSI slot 6>

Best wishes,

Thanks.

Hi,

To my knowledge there is no sheepshaver build with scsi support. Only the said basiliskII versions.

You could try Nigel Pearsons BasiliskII version for OSX.

Or maybe mail him about info.

Best wishes
