Trying to set up SS on Intel MacBook - Please help!

You cannot use System 7.5.3 on SheepShaver for MacOSX and the MacOS 9.0.4 update can only be used to update MacOS 9.0.
To get started with SheepShaver you will need a general retail system installation CD for MacOS 8.5, 8.6, 9.0 or 9.04. MacOS 8.5 can be updated to 8.5.1 or 8.6 and MacOS 9.0 can be updated to 9.0.4. MacOS 8.5/8.6 cannot be updated to 9.0/9.0.4.
Note that a system installation CD that was supplied with a new Mac, can only install on the model it was supplied with and cannot be used with SheepShaver.

(System 7.5.3 can be used with BasiliskII for MacOSX. You cannot use the ROM file extracted from the Mac OS ROM update with BasiliskII, you will need a ROM file obtained from a 68k Mac (generally produced before 1996) for BasiliskII.)
