Please help! QtEMU on Windows 10 (64-bit) to run Mac OS 9.2.
Hello everyone, long time no post! Background: I'm making somewhat of a return to the Mac emulation scene, after more than a decade (give or take a few years). Would like to use QEMU to see how my new custom gaming PC would handle emulating Mac OS 9.2.2. I have mostly given up on Sheepshaver, since ...

Re: Requires System Version 7.5.5 or Later
How large is your "OS 9" volume? I'm betting that the game is trying to create that "scratch file" onto your "OS 9" volume by default... I doubt there's any way to change this behavior. Also, can you verify if the newly mounted "Star Wars Droidworks" image is ...

Re: Requires System Version 7.5.5 or Later
NOTE: I don't have this game, so I've never actually tried it in SheepShaver. However, i've adapted the following instructions provided by a certain Macintosh "abandonware" site. So, follow it at your own risk... (I claim no responsibility) . If you have the original CD-ROM of that game, ...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Ah, i see. Well, if it isn't meant to be in the official source code, then what about the bundled SheepShaverGUI? I can't recall who wrote that handy little "front-end", but couldn't that executable be modified/re-written to play a user-defined sound file in the background (without the nee...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
I've been feeling nostalgic again and thought I'd try the latest update of Sheepshaver (May 6, 2013)... but after having done so, i found that there is no longer any startup sound, despite the fact that I have "boing.wav" in the same folder as the Sheepshaver executable. Is there anything ...

Iconographer is no longer shareware!!!
I remember trying this gem out back in the day and because I was feeling a little nostalgic (more than usual), I found the installer lying around in my archives. I installed it and remembered how fun it was to use, though I never bothered to register it because I never got into the hobby/profession ...

Re: I need help with sheepshaver
Hey Ashlee, I think these 7 questions ought to get you sufficiently oriented and on your way to getting Sheepshaver on your computer, i think. 1) What kind of computer do you use currently? Mac or a Windows PC? 2) If it's a Mac, is it an Intel-based Mac? (Did you buy it after 2006?) 3) If it's a Win...

Re: 256 color, but Greyscale?
Depending on your version of the installed Mac OS, go into your Control Panels, select either "Monitors" or "Monitors and Sound", and there should be a radio button (circular button) that lets you pick grayscale or color.

Re: Darling Project: Run OS X Binaries in Linux
Interesting.
I'm assuming they REALLY meant Intel-OSX binaries on an Intel-Linux host. I wish they made that distinction/clarification....... because what I was *really* hoping for was to run OSX/PPC binaries on a Linux/PPC host.

Re: SheepShaver crashes when opening third-party application
Very sad news again :( Perhaps we should just all put a Euro in a hat and hire a proper developer to do this. Well, you could do that... or: 1) Somebody could start an official fund-raising activity for the Forum Admins to hire people who are "more-qualified" to delve into SS's code and f...

Re: Stuff to do with an iBook G3
If you are bold enough, you could try installing an SSD drive (to replace your internal HDD) for some speedup in booting and app loading. One guy on the MacRumors forum managed to install an SSD in his Clamshel iBook G3... http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=953689 If you have enough RAM on...

Re: Chances of finding a bondi blue iMac G3
My neighbor across the street from me just left their iMac G3 out on the sidewalk.... for over a month, unprotected. And it rained like twice. It was an iMac G3/333 (Rev. D). I maxed out the RAM, HDD, and even upgraded the processor with a Daystar Digital G4 upgrade. It was a screamer! I had dreamed...

I don't know if you're old enough to remember the old "Star Trek project" from the very early 1990's... and while it's already been done, it was ultimately cancelled.

I'll assume that you have either a Mac or PC... and I'll further assume that you have a separate, older Mac that has the old connection ports that pre-date USB. I don't know what platform you're running Sheepshaver on, but I doubt that SheepShaver (currently) has the capability to utilize any "...

ShapeShifter is an old theme/skinning utility for Mac OS 10.1-10.3.9... and perhaps Tiger... it is also the type of alien race/species that Security Chief Odo belongs to on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Sheep Shaver is a cross-platform, alpha/beta-quality emulator that lets you run a number of MacOS ...

Re: Adjusting Processor Speed
Without getting too technical, there is simply no way to make SS (SheepShaver) run faster unless somebody gets down, into the source code to make more optimizations or unless the end-user (you) runs SS on faster hardware. And even if you run SheepShaver on faster hardware, it will actually run faste...

Re: "Disk locked" error message when initializing blank CD
You might be able to add in a USB card (PCI) and then just transfer everything to a high-capacity USB stick (thumb drive). This $10 USB PCI add-on card might do the trick... http://www.frys.com/product/3715166?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG ... at least it'd be cheaper than getting an internal SCSI CDR...

Re: SheepShaver for Linux 03-09-2010 available
This is going to sound a bit dumb... but, by any chance, is there a build of SheepShaver for PPC distros of Linux out there somewhere? I, for one, would jump at the idea of being able to use SheepShaver on my iMac G3, running MintPPC 11.

Re: Virtual Memory in SheepShaver
What about simply allocating more memory to the Sim City 3000 application itself? "Get Info", then click the drop-down menu to select "Memory", then simply type in the amount of memory it needs to get going. Allocating 128-136MB of memory to the Sheepshaver emulator should allow ...

Re: Booting off a flash drive? (PPC only, OS X Tiger, Linux
HAH!!!!!! IT WORKED! Here's the procedure I used. Very useful if your Mac came only with OSX 10.3.x media and you don't have a full OSX 10.4.x installation DVD; in my case I only have a 10.4.6 "upgrade" DVD, which requires that a previous Mac OS X installation be on the hard drive already....

Re: Booting off a flash drive? (PPC only, OS X Tiger, Linux
Well, it failed... CCC was able to create a "blessed" system on my flash drive... but upon trying to boot from it, all I got was the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning graphic..... it just hung there for 20 minutes until I gave up and rebooted (pressed the interrupt switch on...

Re: Booting off a flash drive? (PPC only, OS X Tiger, Linux
Also, I should mention that I don't actually have a Tiger DVD... i have Panther CDs (3 of them) and a Tiger upgrade DVD. So it requires that I install Panther -FIRST- on to my machine before the Tiger installer on the upgrade DVD will allow me to install Tiger at all... regardless of where I choose ...

Re: Booting off a flash drive? (PPC only, OS X Tiger, Linux
Well, I managed to get Tiger 10.4.11, all the updates, X11, and even TenFourFox installed on my HDD and it is still all under 6GB. The remainder of the 10 GB on my 16GB flash drive will likely be images of PPC compatible Linux distros. As for the "Apple Partition Map" option/setting, I did...

Booting off a flash drive? (PPC only, OS X Tiger, Linux)
Setup: iMac G3/600 Snow, slot-loading, Firewire ports, 1GB ram, 80GB HDD, DVD drive, and 2 USB flash drives. Background: I have installed MintPPC (Linux) on my iMac G3 with merely a USB flash drive (1GB capacity). All I did was use the terminal command 'dd' to burn (yes, burn) the contents of the L...
