They are comparing the Altivec capabilities of CherryOS, which has Altivec to PearPC (non-Altivec). In a fair competition between CherryOS and PearPC Altivec, PearPC is about 3 times faster.

Well, Cheerios is based on 0.3pre Altivec builds. Maybe if you boot Tiger with 0.3pre Altivec.

To everyone who thinks CherryOS is faster than PearPC, set your PearPC's redraw_interval to 10 and disable networking. DONE. PearPC will be so much faster.

...and it's a copy of PearPC. C:\CherryOS\AstroAMatro is the PearPC config file CherryOS uses, for all you familiar with PearPC.

If he has the actual CD, then he should have no problem using nativecdrom. Retro, download 0.4pre SDL from richardgoodwin.com. Set slave image to your cd drive, and slave type to nativecdrom. Put the cd in the drive and fire up pearpc.

You don't need Darwin, the guide on pearpc.sf.net is somewhat out of date. Try my easy as hell installer at http://pearpc.zaxgames.com, Mac OS X CD required.
