We need to find the encoding for Simplified Chinese. Is that correct?

OK that will do, that is SheepShaver version 2.5, creation date 1 March 2021, or possibly 2 March when you are in China. (You will find version number and creation date when you select the application icon and hit command-I (which which show the Finder Info panel for the selected file). For the test...

Re: What happened to this portion of the website?
The current minimal home page with links to the wiki and the forum was added by me recently, in August last year. Before that, when you went to https://emaculation.com (or https://www.emaculation.com ), you came to the page that is now https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php (or https://emaculation.com...

Re: How to display Chinese correctly on UNIX disk when Chinese MacOSX 10.9 runs sheepshaver Chinese version macos9.0?
We may have a solution. kanjitalk755 added a new prefs item "name_encoding". As Apple does not provide documentation about the used file name encoding or the apparent backward compatibility for reading old (classic MacOS) filenames in MacOSX, finding the correct encoding keyword will be a ...

You can download the two CD disk images from Macintosh Garden: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/black-white-platinum-pack I am not sure how well it will run in SheepShaver. The minimum requirements include 3D graphics accelerator which is not emulated in SheepShaver. And you will need to have Carbo...

"This is an issue with the Unix/shared folder feature."—————— OK, thank you. If this problem can be solved, please tell me the way. You cannot solve it and neither can I. If it can be solved, and I think it can, it must be done by the developer. We use the fork by kanjitalk755. If he can ...

I had to figure out how SimpleText works and I find out the option bar up the OS. In Windows, the menu bars are at the top of the windows. On a Mac (from 1984 till now) the menu bar is always at the top of the screen. The menus and menu items change to the ones belonging to the application that is ...

Re: How to display Chinese correctly on UNIX disk when Chinese MacOSX 10.9 runs sheepshaver Chinese version macos9.0?
OK, now I think I understand. 1. When the external file system feature in SheepShaver for Windows is used (My Computer icon), Chinese characters in file names are displayed correctly on the SheepShaver side, but classic Mac file attributes are lost. As far as I can imagine, there is no solution for ...

Re: How to display Chinese correctly on UNIX disk when Chinese MacOSX 10.9 runs sheepshaver Chinese version macos9.0?
Well, if you read this and the other topic, you will see that "shelsm" did try. Summarising: Chinese file names are not displayed correctly in the "Unix" volume (shared folder) in SheepShaver OSX and still not when those files are copied from "Unix" to the virtual HD in...

If the same backward compatibility policy was used in 2017, the earliest OSX version that version 2.7 could be used with would be OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
September 2017 macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) was released.

The best way will be to create a new empty disk image of sufficient size. If this works with files names intact, it can be used to move files between SheepShaver guest and OSX host. - Start Disk Utility (in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder) - From the File menu, choose New Image > Blank Image... ...

Information may get lost on the "Unix" drive which is not a HFS or HFS+ volume. You can see that when you select "Unix" and check Finder Info for the volume. The format is seen by the Finder as "Unix Directory Tree". I am trying to find out if it is the Unix/shared fold...

Re: How to display Chinese correctly on UNIX disk when Chinese MacOSX 10.9 runs sheepshaver Chinese version macos9.0?
There are different possible encodings for languages like Chinese. I suppose UTF-8 is normally used in OSX. I am not sure which encoding was used in Classic MacOS.
