I have PearPC 0.4 JIT running on Mac OS X via Darwine. It has some minor video lag but is otherwise quite fast, an upside of the fact it's running on a dual core 64-bit processor. There was a build for Mac OS X a while back, but it was Generic, not JIT, and it was designed to run on OS X PowerPC, no...

To be completely honest, I was just planning to have a look for any clues of the boot chime portions of the file once I opened it up. I'm not sure if any specifics to look for or any in-depth details regarding its code.

Thanks anyway.

Chances are there isn't as it usually involves going through the file with a Hex editor or such, extracting the audio portions to determine if it's a PEx, and if it is, which one. The ROM will have a specific death chime if it's from the Manhattan Prototype, or a standard boot chime if it's from the...

Ah, I see. I suppose I can just compare the checksum to the card perhaps. The particular machine the file is supposed to have come from is non-standard. I have several pieces of the code dumped, including the boot chimes, checksums, etc. But it's incomplete so i'm not sure if the file really is from...

Is it possible to forward it to my public email (imac600x@gmail.com) or another way? I'd like to test it and see if it matches the PowerExpress physical ROM, if possible.

Following 3 steps involve: - Mac OS 9.0/9.1 CDs - SheepShaver (and ROM) - WinImage or HFVExplorer - A USB Flash Drive/PenDrive/Thumb Drive (whatever you prefer to call it) 1. In Windows, install Mac OS 9 in to SheepShaver. Make sure the HD is made in the .IMG format, or .HFV if you have Christian Ba...

Well, maybe cover some virtualization as well. Like Parallels.

Or even branch out to not just emulating a Mac, but emulating ON a Mac. Such as Intel Mac Classic Modes, Apple ][ emulation, PC Emulation, etc.

Finally, maybe some cross platform. Like CrossOver and WINE.

Trying to Locate Vintage File...

I came here... must have been years ago when emulation was the big thing. I remember reading up on a rom, checksum 96CD923D, which was only called the "Unknown PowerPC ROM". For those who don't know, that rom was dumped from a prototype called the Macintosh PowerExpress, a close ancestor o...

But it's all working, has none of the issues MacForum had and I think it's a good place to be. http://www.ictforums.co.nr PS. Sorry for the Websit...

SheepShaver uses WinAPI, KDE, Mac OS X's CoreImage, OpenGL and DirectX to do it's heavy graphics lifting.

Unfortunately, none such run under DOS.

Sounds like it's booting from the CD rather than the disk image. If you can get SheepShaver on to the image, then boot without the CD, it may start up. Sometimes installing OS 9 is where Basilisk II comes in, with the help of Tomeviewer. Tomeviewer can extract the OS 9 install tomes to the disk imag...

Beta release rom from the Macintosh PowerExpress. AFAIK, the rom wasnt patented or copyrighted to final releases, so you may be able to use it with SheepShaver. However, finding it is hard. If anyone has it, I need to do some tests on it. Do not take this as Warez, it is a prototype. If you do happe...

The rom with the checksum 96CD923D is from an Apple Prototype, the Macintosh PowerExpress. Anyone still have this file? I would be interested in testing it. AFAIK, it may not be Warez due to the fact it never went to use or production. If you do, can you please email it to me? (imac600x@gmail.com)
