Please see two posts above. This is a known issue that should be fixed soon.

Best,

Wow! You are absolutely right. For the time being, substituting "sdl" for "cocoa" solves the issue, doesn't it?

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

A new sound enabled build based on qemu 8.2 has been linked in the second post in this thread. For lovers of the bleeding edge an additional sound and virtio support enabled build based on qemu 8.2 has also been added in the second post in this thread. Best, Cat_7 I must be missing something or som...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

A purely cosmetic issue Is there a way (say, in a launch command file) to specify an icon that should be displayed on the Dock when a Qemu virtual machine is running? For instance, I'd like to see the "9" icon when I'm running Mac OS 9.2.2 instead of the the icon attached to the Qemu bina...

Re: Run classic environment in Mac OS 10.1

I have a Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 system running on Qemu 7.1 on top of Monterey 12.4. Classic was installed alongside Tiger itself, and it works just fine.

No, there was only one instance of Qemu running. It was either Mac OS 9.2.2 or Tiger, not both at the same time.

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

What host machine are you using, Peter? I've had similar network issues in UTM using qemu-ppc-screamer on an M1 Pro MBP. Doesn't seem to happen on other hardware. A Mac Pro 5,1 (booted via OpenCore 0.7.6). Both en0 and en1 are regular Ethernet wired connections. In addition, en0 works just fine for...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

Yes, I believe you, naturally. I don't know what might be causing the odd circumstance shown on my Tiger VM. I don't think this is really relevant, but my Monterey machine is a Mac Pro 5,1 that is booted via OpenCore. The above syntax is just a quick and dirty solution that happens to work for me, b...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

No, unfortunately "my" Qemu folder was already inside /Applications. I got Mac OS 9.2.2 to launch successfully, although, much to my surprise the guest screen resolution had changed. I changed it back to the previous resolution and no problem. I can't get Tiger to get to the Desktop. It si...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

No, that's not it. The real reason, and it's a stupid one on my part, is that one needs to run xattr -c on the command file (test.command in my case) after every edit. Otherwise, it won't run!

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

Thanks for the detail and the valuable comments. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. After removing the comments and running that as a new "test.command", I'm never asked for a password (for sudo), and I still get "-bash: /Applications/Qemu/test.command: Operation not permitted&q...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

Many thanks, Cat_7! EDIT: I'm probably missing something obvious or doing something incredibly stupid in my launch scripts. For instance, the one I use to launch Mac OS 9.2.2 is now as follows: #!/bin/bash cd "$(dirname "$0")" ./qemu-system-ppc-screamer-60hz-fpu-vmnet -boot c -L ...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

I don't know about others, and I understand things might be very different on Apple Silicon hardware, but, at least, for those of us who still have Intel Macs, I really hope that Cat_7 and/or other expert users can continue to generate up-to-date versions of Qemu. It's highly appreciated.

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

The question was: Do they run after switching off virtual memory in the Mac OS guest and restarting. Yes, I got the question, but, since the "screamer" Qemu works well (not perfectly, just fine) without tweaking the memory, what would be the point? Crippling the installation and then see ...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

^My current host is Big Sur 11.5.2, but the following would also apply to previous (and all) iterations of the OS as far back, at least, as Mojave. The screamer version of Qemu 5.x works fine on Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.4 (including Classic) virtual machines.

macOS GUI frontend for QEMU?

How close are we to a GUI frontend for QEMU that will be easy to use and allow us to avoid using the Terminal? If there's one already, are there any caveats about its use? If there are several options available, is there a GUI frontend that you can recommend?

HVF (hypervisor framework) support in Big Sur

Hi. Can anyone explain what practical advantages, if any, would derive from adding -accel=hvf to the qemu launch command line? I understand that, for this work in Big Sur, the qemu executable must be codesigned. Can anyone elaborate?

Re: Option request - window title

Then it would be nice if the VMs name would be used for the window title, without the need to edit the prefs file. But I doubt that is possible. That would probably be the best possible solution, IMHO. Let the virtual disk's name determine the name of the SheepShaver window running the relevant ver...

Re: Qemu package and guide for OSX available

^My bad. I don't know what happened, but it does indeed work. I had used my 5.0 "MacOS922_Launch.command" which contained the -rtc parameter and refused to launch (I don't recall what the specific error message was, but it was related to "localtime"), so I removed it and it final...
