Sheepshaver on Windows 7

Yesterday, I installed Windows 7. Of course, it was an unreleased version. It's around the Beta stage, if not, it's getting close. But the whole process was clean-install because my hardware couldn't roll with this OS as an upgrade. After a clean install, already it has managed to recognize some of ...

On the Windows part, I can run the startup sound and then run SS as I put it all into an MS-DOS batch file, but the sound is what opens with a media player and I don't want the sound to do that.

Startup sounds do work in Basilisk II, though. But that will also depend on the version.

It will take a 9.0.4 installer disc to be exact. According to the programmers, anything above 9.0.4 won't install.

Do we have a SheepShaver for OSX running PowerPC G3?

I thought I'd ask. If we can get the source for Intel, why not the others?

I once heard that Leopard phased out support for G3 while they go on to G4 and G5. PearPC can emulate a G4, but it's questionable to run Leopard that way. Recently, I emulated the old-school 10.2 Jaguar on one of redscorp's builds for PearPC 0.5 and came up with the installation instructions. Heh...

I used UltraISO not only to pull iso's off CD's, but to convert them to ISO's as well.

I never tried that, nor that there was an option in SS GUI where I was able to select the ISO as a cdrom. To say the least, that procedure was something I had to do last time because it didn't work.

Note to Windows users about OS 8.5 & 9.0 installer ISO's

Be forewarned that these versions are meant to be read-only and must stay that way. As long as they are not read-only whats-so-ever, Mac OS 8.5/9 strictly will not boot and give you this error: The system software on the startup disk only functions on the original media, not if copied to another dri...

One advantage I found with Olympus (code name of phpBB 3) was that the Styles Team was able to accept any templates rebuilt out of subSilver and proSilver. If you obtain the latest phpBB 3 and use subSilver, all the user information should still be kept on the left. The one thing I hate about the mo...

I have seen many versions of OS 9 as themselves, but never seen it as a server version. I got a good feeling that OS 9 would only work if it was on a disk image, not on a standalone computer. It's worth a try, but there's no telling what emulators can react to Mac OS these days... There are some Ma...

If the college decided to change their mind and throw in Windows computers, I might have some input on that. My first concern would be to put those programs on a concrete disk image, make sure you have the best version of OS 8.6/9 you have, and the ROM image to go with it. Double-check the settings...

I would be surprised if an old iMac G3 would be tricked into using Leopard. Nothing else, I would be surprised if I saw hardware switched out where it would fit well into an iMac and run Leopard.

Whatever you do, don't "emulate" Leopard on a G3!
