well, i did a fresh install of 7.5.3, updated to 7.5.5, and installed (copied) myst. i didn't copy myst's version of the system extensions, since they were older. i used the 'z' (international) version of the system, if i recall correctly. if you run into problems, try doing a fresh install, and i'v...

thanks, i probably should have read through it more carefully. :)

by replacing the executable, i assume you mean the actual unix binary file in the .app bundle. will do. :)

Using SheepShaver built-in prefs editor with a sheepvm virtual machine, you will edit only the prefs file inside that sheepvm bundle. Using it in a 'classic' setup, you will edit the ~/.sheepshaver_prefs file. The SheepShaverPrefs application is older and is not aware of sheepvm virtual machines, s...

a quick question about preferences: if i start a sheepvm bundle and use the menu to edit the settings, will it save them to the 'prefs' file in the bundle, or will it use the default location (i.e., ~/)? also, if i use the standalone editor, how can i tell it to load from and save my settings to the...

okay. no luck with only system extensions on. but i've tried it with os 9 and sheepshaver, and it works flawlessly. that _is_ odd. :)

that's odd.. i'll try to boot with only the essential system extensions, maybe that'll help. if it doesn't, there's a good chance that my downloaded image is corrupted. i wish the cd was still working.. :( i also have the 'ignore illegal memory access' checked, but it shouldn't make a big difference...

myst

greetings, i have an original myst cdrom, which has become unusable since the 90's. luckily i've found a myst.cdr floating around the internet, and downloaded it. since i own the original game, this can be legally considered a backup. but enough of this. the image seems to be a standard mac cd, so i...

thanks, i'll look into it. my goal is to make a standalone prefs editor much like this one for ss and nigel pearson's 'preferences' window. i've never used cvs before, but it's always worth to try. :) yes, i know about the terminal-approach, though i usually use nano. heck, i had to edit the prefs f...

you might have a resource fork related problem. did you copy the (uncompressed) game from a non-hfs partition? because if you did, you should copy the .bin/.sit/.hqx etc. compressed file to the emulated mac and extract it there, and you should be fine.

is there any way i could get the source code for this? i use basiliskii much more often, and khm.. the prefs app is khm.. annoying. the thing i hate most is that you _have_ to run basilisk to save your settings. i'm not trying to diminish the work of gwenole (or whoever wrote it), but it's uncomfort...

maybe this should be a sicky too. ;) You mean "sticky" ? It will be, as soon as I have time to make it into a full download (like the July 21 2008 download) with a partly re-write of the manual with also additions about the new features added by 'Myrd', support for self-contained v...

I am interested to hear whether this version has better audio performance than the other builds since February this year. http://www.xs4all.nl/~ronaldpr/sheepshaverforum/SheepShaver_UB_20091004.zip i've found this one to have significantly better sound output - like ...

i guess basilisk and sheepshaver are just like any other open-source project: prone to extremity. :) we'll just have to wait or downgrade (or contribute, which - due to my lack of serious programming skills - i'm unable).

i thought the sdl runtime is needed in /Library/Frameworks for ss or basilisk to run. that's what i wanted to update. but it's not. silly me.. it's up to you then, i hope you're right about older versions.

oh.. i see. my last resort was to update sdl, but since the latest (1.2.13) is from 2007 (i think), there's no point in that. well thanks for trying anyway.

disk images

another seemingly stupid question: what is the maximum disk (image) size basilisk (and/or a 68k mac9) can handle? i'm trying to create a 4 gb (4096 mb) image to copy all my stuff onto and use it in sheepshaver and basilisk. if i format it to hfs+ (with os 9 on sheepshaver) i have no trouble at all. ...

hi everybody, i've experienced problems with this build, mainly sound lag and stutter issues. the previous build (july, 2008) has no such problems. neither does the fullscreen-capable build of sheepshaver . (on my computer, at least.. :)) so if somebody has the same problems, i suggest downgrading t...

okay, so the prefs file didn't give me any extra options. but , i've figured it out. the previous build (july, 2008) has no sound problems. neither does the fullscreen-capable build of sheepshaver . so until someone who's better at programming can figure out what happened, i'm sowngrading to that. i...
