Re: Printing from BII to Windows with System 7.5.5
This isn't exactly what you're asking for, but if you search the web for macsys761installer you'll find a System 7.6.1 setup for Windows that prints to the default Windows printer. Ignore the fact that the page title refers to OS 9; you'll find a section on 7.6.1 lower on the page. Forum rules forbi...

Re: Problems saving files to Unix drive after upgrading from macOS 10.13.6 6o 10.14.6
This seems to be a problem with SimpleText, not with SimpleText files. I noticed many years ago that I couldn't save a file from SimpleText to the Unix folder - the file would simply be deleted without an error message. (I don't remember which SheepShaver version was involved, and which version of m...

Re: Using Mac OS 9.app
I would like to know what is the safest way to store personal files used by Classic. I managed to transfer a file from OSX to Classic, but I would like to know where this file used by Classic is stored, for a backup strategy . In addition, I created a volume "MyVolume" usable by Classic t...

You might be able to save yourself a lot of trouble by searching Google for this:

And, as you know (but other people might not), that "Windows Support Alert" message is a total scam.

But how can the original poster get the extension into his Basilisk system if he can't use the shared folder? (I'm not being difficult - it just isn't clear to me how it can be done.)

Cutomized forum?
I don't want to add to the burdens of the admins, who already have more than enough to keep them busy, but is there any hope of a customized bulletin board, like the old one? It was one of the best-looking forums on the net.

Re: ROM to ISO for 64 Windows
If you want something easier, search the web for (using quotation marks): "a similar system that runs system 7.6.1" This will lead you a page where you can download a one-click BasiliskII setup for Windows. Forum rules rightly forbid a direct link to anything that contains an Apple OS. If ...

Hmmm... everything on my Columbia University web site has been compressed to a .gz file. I'll check with the IT department...
EDIT: Well, whatever happened, I can restore files that got compressed so I'm putting them back now.

ResEdit, but Resorcerer doesn't seem to make it any easier. Your idea sounds excellent - anything you can do to help put it into effect will be gratefully received.

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
emendelson, since you're pre-loading the OS into your app anyway, would it make sense to go in with ResEdit and remove the Restart menu line from the Finder? That way, people can't restart, and many SS issues will be avoided. You could also rename "Shut Down" to "Quit and Save Settin...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
I changed the path to the alias to the same path as indicated in the WinPath.txt file with :Transfer appended to it (I used the set new original button in the Get Info dialog) and the problem was solved. That is the same change I made to the last installation. That tells me exactly what I needed to...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
You're right about the name of the script; similar scripts have different names in my different systems. I think "background" is in the name of the script in the Mac version of this. I have three or four separate systems that use this kind of background script; they've been working on othe...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
I'd be very happy to deal with it if I knew what I was dealing with. When you wrote your message where you reported that you had no more errors, I was in fact writing a message suggesting that you might want to debug the background script to find exactly where it failed. (The simplest way would be t...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
The alias in the System Folder is simply there for my convenience when I want to open the script itself in the editor. It has no other function, and doesn't need to be there at all. The script is called something like "Background Actions Script" to indicate that it is supposed to run in th...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
I can't reproduce the problems, so I'm afraid I can do nothing to help. You should probably find another way to run SheepShaver. No one is forcing you to use this one, and there's probably no reason why you should waste your time with a system that doesn't work for you. I strongly urge you to use so...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver (Mac OS 9 for Windows)
Well, that's my setup, and I can't reproduce the problem with the startup items folder. I've now installed it on four different systems (each with different user names), and it works perfectly each time. I also can't reproduce the problem with sounds. Your YouTube video shows that you've installed a...

Re: No sound in SheepShaver/Mac OS 9
I think the post to which you're responding may refer to my Mac OS 9 for Windows system. I got an email today about a similar problem with the startup script in that system, a problem that I can't reproduce. If this is in fact my system, then the SheepShaver build in it is one that I made with MinGW...
