"Unable to prepare sound id"
I'm attempting to play "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" 3.5, available at the Macintosh Garden . When I run it, after the intro movie I get an error: "unable to prepare waveform sound id #41 :error #10000" Any ideas as to what's going on? The readme included with the game ...

Re: Increasing resolution
Aha! Nevermind. I just had to go into the Monitors control panel and change the resolution.
Here's a feature request, then: Control-Return should both change the resolution and switch to/from full screen. When it's in Windowed mode, I obviously want a lower resolution so I can see my desktop.

Increasing resolution
Running SS in full-screen mode is great in principle, but my screen can handle a better resolution than 1024x768; 1680x1050 to be precise. When I input those numbers into SS Preferences and start up in Full Screen mode, I get a beautiful high-resolution startup screen—for about five seconds, before ...

Re: Internet Access (Mac client)
And Apple comes to the rescue with a Support page . I used to know all this stuff, once upon a time. I'm a bit surprised that this isn't a common problem. Well, in case the above link ever breaks, here's the solution: In the TCP/IP control panel, choose Edit>User Mode…>Advanced. Then fill the Name S...

Re: Internet Access (Mac client)
Hmm. Connecting to my router (using my router's actual local address, not 10.0.2.2) works fine, as does connecting to IP addresses directly. So this is a DNS issue. Putting DNS addresses into the "Search domains:" field does not fix the problem.

Applescripts damaged
When trying to open the "Delete Prefs File" or "Zap PRAM" scripts, I receive
OS X 10.10.1
This is from a fresh download of SheepShaver.“Delete Prefs File” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

Re: Internet Access (Mac client)
It's not Yosemite, for certain; I tried with a copy of the same image in Snow Leopard, and no love there either. I guess I'm going to have to reinstall OS 9 and start over.

Re: Internet Access (Mac client)
Those addresses are what automatically populate, yes. Hmph. I wish I knew more about how SS handled networking, so I could try to troubleshoot.

Internet Access (Mac client)
I assume this has been asked and answered multiple times, but a Forum search didn't turn up anything useful. I can't seem to get IE or Navigator to connect to the Internet; they are unable to connect to any host. I'm using SS 2.4, have slirp set as the Ethernet interface, and the TCP/IP cdev set to ...

Re: Locked startup disk
Have you checked the image file in the OSX Finder Info? It could be that it is locked there or that the permissions are such that the file is not writeable for you (the logged in user). How simple and stupid. I should have thought to check that. That was exactly the problem. I had never used SheepS...

Locked startup disk
It's been a long time since I've used SheepShaver. I opened it today and discover that the startup disk shows a lock in the Finder. This is an issue because prefs files, etc. cannot be created or modified. How can I fix this? The image is in .dsk format, and when I try to open it under OS X, DiskIma...

Solved
This is a really easy solution. Search for "CUPS" in Mac OS Help. This walks you through how to set it up on the OS X side. Use the Desktop Printer Utility in OS 9 to create an LPR desktop printer with the information the Help file tells you how to get. Works like a dream. If you choose a ...
