Re: A/UX AppleTalk information
It could be related to the BlueSCSI (external, V2). A/UX 2.0.1 likes to corrupt itself somehow in some weird ways. IDK. I'll probably try reinstalling it on the internal HDD if/when I get a Pentium III box to test out Windows 2K Server SFM. Pretty sure SFM will work but in a VirtualBox session only...

Re: Stuffit Expander Hates Me
Are you using Stuffit Expander 5.5 in 7.6.1? Is the file you're expanding physically on a disk image prior to attempting to expand it and not in the Unix folder? Yes, and yes. I have an "Incoming" folder on the .hda files that I transfer all compressed files to. SS/BII: Grab .sit or .sit....

My workflow is: SS/BII: Grab .sit or .sit.bin file from Unix folder (or download it from MG with Classilla) and copy it to my boot image. ...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
So actually that didn't seem to work. I both deleted the control strip preferences and tried the option click on the strip itself to move it, but it doesn't seem to work. Am I correct in thinking that the option key is mapped to the windows key on a Windows system? Maybe I'm holding down the wrong ...

Re: How To : Emulate NeXTStep in Previous or Other Emulator
Great to see there is still some interest in Previuos here! Some time went past and there was lots of progress on Previous since then. Make sure you compile trunk for up-to-date and non-experimental code. Previous is a pure GUI application now. It does not read from the command line in normal opera...

Re: How To : Emulate NeXTStep in Previous or Other Emulator
It was an MMU development branch, but has become my general development branch. All NeXT computers used either 68030 or 68040 CPUs. Both had an integrated MMU and both are fully emulated in Previous. There is also near complete emulation of the 6888x FPU and 68040 integrated FPU. Most parts of the ...

Hi, thank you for replying! I'm trying to transfer using file sharing on both machines- I've had this work with other virtual mac os's- namely OSX 10.4 & OS9 ( With Sonoma installed on my host machine). Internet connection works on Leopard, but I haven't been able to successfully initiate file ...

Re: Qemu screamer not starting (windows)
Ah, you have -boot d, which boots from media=cdrom. You need -boot c to boot from media=disk. The screamer doesn't work with -m 1024 or more, so set the amount of memory to something less. The command line could be: qemu-system-ppc-screamer.exe ^ -L pc-bios ^ -M mac99 ^ -m 512 ^ -cpu G4 ^ -display ...

I was joking as I fixed that a few days ago after the initial report ;-) "A/UX version 1.x is based on System 6.0.4. Version 2.0 is based on System 6.0.5, while version 3 is based on System 7.0.1" (It might also be I 'm missing some of the intricacies of the English language here) No, I w...

Which error on the wiki? ;-) Best, Cat_7 "A/UX version 1.x is based on Mac OS 6.0, while versions 2 and 3 are based on Mac OS 7.0.1" Version 0.7 won't boot Mac OS, but if it did, would be running 6.0. Version 1.0 is essentially the same as 0.7, but doesn't core dump when you try to run a ...

Re: Basilisk II Port for Nokia Internet Tablets
Anyone still have this software? All links are dead and I’d like to play around with it. Which software? This is BII running on a Nokia Internet Tablet. NIT is a custom Linux distribution, and BII now has a pretty solid Linux build system. Are you specifically looking for the custom NIT build of BI...

Re: Random crash during boot on Qemu8.2 (Windows)
I believe Apple Audio Extension is for Multimedia Macs, to tie the A/V hardware into the regular Mac system. Since QEMU isn't emulating the A/V hardware, the extension serves no purpose. The race condition is likely on whether the alternate hardware structure is fully loaded prior to the extension l...

Re: A/UX AppleTalk information
Odd; https://aux-penelope.com/hardware.htm indicates that the IIci should technically be able to boot. I was going to mention the same error on the wiki, but never got around to it :) Possibly the image you're using to boot 1.1.1 has been corrupted by running through Shoebill, which has its own cust...

And THAT is a great find, EMendelson! Since you're the local AppleScript wizard, any chance you could write up a droplet that recognizes different AppleDouble formats and can automagically combine them? EDIT: Revised because the AppleScript app now lets you drop a file on it. Well, nothing like a c...

Re: Error message when trying to boot up an old game
Those messages suggest that the boot disk you're using isn't a full install of the retail Mac OS 9.0.4 -- it's missing CarbonLib and InterfaceLib -- which will be in the System Folder of a full install of Mac OS 9. If you did something like copy and boot from the Mac OS 9 at RedundantRobot, you'd ru...

I've lost track, to be honest. Can anyone post a sample set of fi...

Re: Shoebill - a Macintosh II + A/UX emulator for OS X
What's the secret for converting floppy disks to HD images? Both Shoebill and QEMU-system-m68k lack floppy support, and the non-mac floppy images appear to be unrecognizeable on macOS and Linux. Do I just create a blank HD image and then dd the floppy image to the A/UX partition? And use a CD image ...
