Re: Here's a challenge for you guys
I thought we don't help Hackintosh users, lol. I believe I've heard SheepShaver already having ROMs bundled together, but if you don't have one, ensure that you owned a Mac in the past (high chances you did...), and go grab one from the internet. It is not too hard to find. With the OS situation, sa...

Re: OS X Yosemite beta
Voted "I don't care" because I don't really use Mac OS X, and I didn't really do any research on it. The screenshot does look nice, though.

Re: Running Basilisk II on Linux without Xorg
Hi, Did you follow his instructions on how to build your own version of Basilisk on the PI?: # apt-get install git libsdl1.2-dev # git clone github.com/cebix/macemu # cd macemu/BasiliskII/src/Unix # NO_CONFIGURE=1 ./autogen.sh # ./configure --enable-sdl-video --enable-sdl-audio --disable-vosf --dis...

Re: Running Basilisk II on Linux without Xorg
Honestly it looked as though he edited the X11 startup files to start up Basilisk II instead of a display manager, when startx is run. That's what I thought when I saw that one second at the start of the video. *EDIT* Sorry for not actually contributing to the post. And it seems I misread a bit; Xor...

Re: Basilisk won't run, disk with blinking ?
Why would you try to open the StuffIt Expander application in SimpleText? It's an application. It should run by double-click. If it's giving that error, it means the OS thinks it's a file, and doesn't know how to open it (duh). That means the binary data that should come with the application wasn't ...

Re: Basilisk won't run, disk with blinking ?
Thank you its working now, everything is installed. However in order to get any programs I need stuffit expander right? The guide recommends using HFVExplorer to drag the Stuffit files to my install.hfv disk image, but that image doesn't show up on HFVExplorer. It says I can use Basilisk II GUI to ...

Re: [SOLVED] Looking for a Japanese System Software 6.
Sorry for the trouble, but I don't have Basilisk II or SheepShaver installed, and my StuffIt Deluxe can't unstuff the KanjiTalk file. Could somebody unpack it for me and then pass me a link in some way? Sincere apologies.

Re: Looking for a Japanese System Software 6.
What is version 6.0.8L? System software version 6.0.8L allows you to use System 6 on your computer while sharing a network with System 7 users. As the L in the version number indicates, this software runs on a limited number of computers. It is primarily intended for the Macintosh Classic II and Ma...

[SOLVED] Looking for a Japanese System Software 6.
^^ What the topic title says. I looked around a few sites, but most are dead, and all the surviving ones don't have a copy of it. I would sincerely appreciate if anyone could enlighten me of the means to find a disk image for it? *EDIT* Found KanjiTalk in MacGUI as the others have suggested. Install...

Does anybody need custom compilations?
I got Visual C++ Express 2013 today (I used to have it in my old laptop, now I'm using a new one and I've neglected to install anything that can compile custom builds of Mini vMac until today), and I've just updated my personal custom Mini vMac build to 3.3.3. Does anybody else need custom builds? I...

http://www.cultofmac.com/239280/twiggy-mac-lives-quest-to-resurrect-worlds-oldest-macintosh/ Awesome! I've never heard of this before. Interesting how they used a lot of different things as compared to a finalized Macintosh 128k, such as the filesystem and the larger disk space. Wonder why that didn...

Re: What OS should I install on my iBook G3 Clamshell?
After a lot of snags (worth two entire reports, actually, I won't go into details), I've installed Debian Etch on my iBook. The process were surprisingly straightforward and clean (things were smoother than my previous attempts at installing Debian, but there's the usual headaches for installing a L...

Re: What OS should I install on my iBook G3 Clamshell?
After some looking around and some laziness, I decided to go see if I can install Debian Woody (3.0) (Linux distro) on the iBook instead of upgrading the RAM first; it'll be troublesome for me to find the screwdriver to unlock the back, you see. If I can get a nice system running at 64mb, I can brag...

...That's one hell of a monitor you have there. And a hell of a Mac to run all of that.
It would've been nice if you used floppies for the pre-PPC OSes, like how you used CDs for the PPC ones.
A walkthrough for this feat? ..Naaah, for me.

I used to have a CD (non-machine-specific) but then I lost it sometime ago, so I torrented an iso I downloaded.

Re: What OS should I install on my iBook G3 Clamshell?
Firstly, the CD burned perfectly and was recognized by my iBook as a proper HFS disk If the machine should be able to run 10.2 and does not start op from the CD with C pressed, there is something wrong with the CD. Exactly how did you burn that CD and from what? I burned from an .iso file using Pow...

Re: What OS should I install on my iBook G3 Clamshell?
Tried installing. This time a lot of things were smooth, but at the end it didn't work out. Firstly, the CD burned perfectly and was recognized by my iBook as a proper HFS disk (unlike my Icewind Dale attempt), and after a few failures I managed to learn a bit about the Mac as I updated its firmwar...

What filesize does PearPC ACTUALLY demand?
I have the latest version of PearPC here (from 2011), I'm just using it temporarily to test my new OS X 10.2 discs. They're in .iso format, they're fine. I tried running PearPC a few times, and it keeps complaining about my HDD. When I first ran it, I was trying to use a 1 GB disk made by HFVExplore...

Re: What OS should I install on my iBook G3 Clamshell?
When I was on that spec of a machine, I dual booted into 9.2 and 10.2. I found that adding new memory really sped things up though, and after I did that, I removed 9.2 and just used classic. You really need at least 128 to do that. Yeah, I plan to upgrade the memory, but I can't do it anytime soon....
