Re: What games are people playing on SS in 2021?
Here are the SS games I play the most (I play some others in BII), most played first: Indeed, isn't it much better to run most of those games in BII, if not natively? Pegasus Prime used to be an excellent use for Sheepshaver, but now that it's playable in ScummVM, that's no longer a requirement. I ...

Re: What games are people playing on SS in 2021?
As a user, emulating systems just for the fun of it is perfectly respectable.

What games are people playing on SS in 2021?
Hi, I know some people are using SS for serious work, but lately I've only been using it for games. I'm just curious what games people are playing on SS in 2021. Maybe the experimental D3D/OpenGL support will result in some more games being playable in the future. Here are the SS games I play the mo...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Hello, I had also installed The Sims Livin' Large, in case it can make a difference in terms of replication of the crash. BTW, I never got the game to run on the few instances when SS didn't crash. No combination of no-CD patch and mounted image did the trick. I seem to remember it was the same on m...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
FYI, it seems I solved this crash issue by deactivating QuickDraw3D, RAVE, IR & Viewer in the Extensions Manager - noted as part of the OpenGL 1.1.2 package.

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Hello, I'm on W10 running SS's latest build. I've been experiencing many crashes for the last few weeks. Usually SS opens, Mac OS 9.0.4 loads but it freezes after displaying the desktop. Sometimes the app simply closes without any error message, sometimes it freezes and I have to force quit it. I tr...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Thank you.
Ctrl-F5 works. Maybe it is standard procedure on WIndows. I switched recently.
Also full-screen is now fixed.
SS keeps getting better.

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Hello Is there a way to capture the mouse cursor inside the SS window - and then release it when alt-tabbing or something similar? I prefer windowed mode - and anyway getting strange colors and artifacts in full-screen mode. But playing many games is problematic without being able to capture the cur...

Re: Problems running Barrack in Sheepshaver
I never got Barracks to work in SS.
In BII (7.5.5 on Mavericks), it does work, but it usually crashes or freezes after a few dozen levels.
Bubble Trouble works fine so I have to stick to that.

Re: Stuttering and lag in LucasArts games
I remember old lucasarts scumm games were choppy on old macs when virtual memory was enabled. Since you have to use virtual memory in SS, there's no way you will get the dig to run correctly. ScummVM is indeed the way to go.
Never got Dark Forces to work outside DOSBox, can't help you there.

In case you don't manage to run these games with a mac emulator, you probably stand a better chance running DOS versions of these games using DOSBox, or running them directly in XP. I tend to use basilisk / sheepshaver for mac-specific games only (such as shareware and freeware games), since it is u...

Hello, Thanks for your answers, It does seem slightly smoother with JIT on. Out of curiosity, what does it consist in ? Some console emulators have options that sound similar and are supposed to ensure the accurateness of the emulation process (which is a performance intensive task). This is probabl...

Hello, Thanks for your answer, I now realize that most people use this software for serious purposes. It is not my case since the only classic macs I used were the family computers we had when I was 12 to 16 or so. Classic mac games (especially shareware and freeware) have a unique feel to me. I mes...

Hello, Could someone report on performance on entry-level Macs (aka Macbook, Mac Mini, etc) ? I just wanted to make it clear that I didn't mean to complain about anything in my previous message. I find it amazing that there are developpers dedicated to bringing such amazing software for free to use ...

question about speed
Hello, I was wondering if basilisk is supposed to run perfectly smoothly on recent machines. I used to run the latest build without any speed issues on my 2008 iMac, but most software is very choppy now on my new Macbook (I only use Basilisk for old mac games, out of nostalgia), with the same build ...
