Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

One more question. Apparently the package that must be opened in order to activate SheepShaver, since it's not an application itself, can't be placed in the Dock. Is there a practical alternative that will allow ready availability of SheepShaver?

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

I've downloaded the folder from the link in your PM and put the disk image file in it. Double clicking the VM icon opens SheepShaver as before. But when I change the desktop file to 1600X1200 in preferences, it doesn't change the size of the window that opens. The preferences change sticks, but it d...

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

If they would be at the top level under Shared, no. There are 4 folders: Applications, Desktop (empty), Genealogy (that's my data), and Library (empty except for nested folders).

Then I guess what I have isn't Chubby Bunny. I don't remember where I got it, I think 9 years ago.

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

On my new Mac, which I restored from my Time Machine backup from last week, the SheepShaver application does recognize the counterpart "Shared" folder as its Unix folder.

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

It runs, but today it tells me there's no Unix disk, which means I must have moved something yesterday. There should be a folder called Shared. I found all the folders called Shared. My data are in the one under Users. There's one in the SheepShaver folder and it's empty. That's how it's always been...

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

In my Chubby Bunny, it says "SheepShaver Version 2.3" That must be very old indeed.

There are no .dmg files in Users/Shared. The only one is macos9800.dmg, in the SheepShaver folder.

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

Thanks, that makes sense to me. I had actually forgotten when I first wrote, since it's been many years, that what I was using was Chubby Bunny (and that that is different from a regular SheepShaver).

If your option 2 is possible, that's what I would prefer to do.

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

OK, I followed the instructions up to step 6, clicking "Save and Quit" I had changed the desktop size from the 1280X960 that I think is the 128K Mac size to 1600X1200. But then I was able to quit SheepShaver by using the close button on the window and clicking "Shut Down". I didn...

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

I see the problem now, I think. I got as far as "If you have an existing SheepShaver setup, you can simply replace the application with the new application." So I did that. But since my earlier setup was Chubby Bunny, the new application didn't provide all the functionality I was expecting...

Re: setting desktop size in SheepShaver

I just tried using the old version of SheepShaver (Chubby Bunny), OS X (yes still!) 10.9.5, and there are no buttons. I took a screenshot, but I don't see a way to attach it.

setting desktop size in SheepShaver

I haven't found an answer to this in the documentation or the forums, but I may have missed it. I've been using SheepShaver on a 2014 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.5. I've just migrated that computer's data to a new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.14.1, so I needed to download the current version of She...

Re: getting MacDraw to recognize MacDraw files

Yes, that's what I've been doing from the start. Upon unzipping, all MacDraw files have the proper identification. Then later (after quitting and restarting SheepShaver and with the passage of some days), without having been moved, some of the files have lost their identification. I think if I store...

Re: getting MacDraw to recognize MacDraw files

That's exactly what I've done from the beginning. At some point they lose their identity as far as MacDraw is concerned. I'm conducting experiments to see if I can find out where that's happening. Ronald suggested that simply residing in the Unix (shared) folder might corrupt that information. That ...

Re: getting MacDraw to recognize MacDraw files

The files (genealogical charts) came from a Motorola Mac, I think by USB drive and sneaker net, though it's been a while since I did it so I'm not sure. They all open properly on the old Mac. I got them into the emulator by moving the entire enclosing folder into the shared folder on the Intel Mac. ...

getting MacDraw to recognize MacDraw files

I've been successfully using MacDraw 1.9.5 to edit MacDraw files within Chubby Bunny SheepShaver. But I've just found that some of my MacDraw files lost their identification as MacDraw files when I copied them onto my Intel Mac. They don't show up in the open dialog in MacDraw, of course. When I Get...
