Re: BasiliskII for Windows

It's been a while - it seems the black screen bug is fixed! Problem - with modern B2 and SS, SLIRP will immediately crash the emulator, it just searches for problems, and closes.

Any ideas?

Re: Mac Paint on Basilisk II?

I found even StuffIt 5.5 can mount disks DC can't.

MacDraw is a better choice though. Vectors and a bigger, resizable window.

Repair Disk: bootstrap and fix emulated Macs

Get! (53 MB zipped, 100 MB extracted) This disk can replace the hassle of assembling a bunch of disk images, finding disk tools, etc. It includes most everything for most any Mac emulator. Just set this as your first disk, and you can install the OS and repair boo-boos in the image. Included utilit...

It's the only real shot we have at emulating it: MESS has evolved a lot over the years. Can it run A/UX yet?

I've given up on modern (except I will reinstall Linux. SOON) but I'd like to at least get 142 not crash like a methhead on caffeine. Any suggestions?

Basilisk II is driving me insane

(OS: Windows 8 Pro) Decided to get back into emulation, but as I said, B2 is driving me insane: * Tried Basilisk142 first, as I find it more acceptable. Thing crashes like crazy; errors out like crazy when you switch away. * Tried the modern build; black screen. I'm already pretty angry from poking ...

Re: no screen saving / go to sleep control panel in OS 7.5.3

Sleep/power saving control panels are in the PowerPC version of System 7.5.3, and SheepShaver handles PPC.
Except sleep doesn't do anything. It will just make you feel good having the cdevs.

No, limitation of Basilisk II. (I could mention why, but you wouldn't care and I ramble...)

You can try the Mac II version of Mini vMac.

Re: SheepShaver for Linux 03-09-2010 available

SS does run on PowerPC devices - in fact, it even uses the native PPC to run code.

Tried it through VNC on a friend's Wii running Debian. Slow when using it through VNC, but works well. Little unstable though.

If I recall, QEMU supports Virtual PC disk images. Probably won't boot because of emulated hw differences, but likely readable.

Macintosh games that do not require a keyboard

I got Basilisk II working on my Nokia N800 . ARM processor with no JIT or prefs editor, so it's a little slow emulating. For the sake of science, I've let it as an IIci with 8 MB RAM and a '030, pretty much default. However, I don't have an N810, which has a physical keyboard, and the virtual keyboa...

Only B142 plays startup sounds from the ROM.

At least for me, Linux builds that I use, (SS and B2) compiled from source do not.

Apple gives you Mac OS 7.5 for free, works in SheepShaver, Basilisk, and Mini vMac. Plus some boot disks like Disk Tools.

You still need a ROM though, acquired from a Mac or on the internet, legally or not.

Disable the JIT (this JIT dramatically makes emulation faster, turn it off for max slownewss) - then adjust the Mac's refresh rate, also try an older PC, slow down the Mac by loading it with extensions will never need, or try another emulator. SheepShaver emulates a more complex Power Mac which will...

Actually 7.0 to 8.1. 7.1 and a hybrid of 7.5 and 8.0 are the best I find; 7.1 runs almost everything 7.6.1 can with extensions and the hybrid is best for creating images for both Basilisk and SheepShaver. Just take the System file from 8 and dump it with the Finder from 7.5 or 7.6. You have all the ...

I also have to often delete a lot of key layouts, as everybody in the wstern hemisphere uses US keyboard layouts. I'm pretty sure I have a copy of Mac OS 8.0 System with a French keyboard layout though. If you're interested, I'll see what I can do about giving it to you.

Have fun making those icons stay nice without alpha transparency.

I recommend Folder Icon Maker. It lets you quickly add small icons onto a folder's icon. You can even switch the folder style used. It's in the garden.
