Re: Old sources
HFV Explorer code has been sitting here on Emaculation since at least 2019: https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/mac_emulation?tab_details=history&image=hfvexplorer_131_src_bak.zip&ns=&do=media ! I've mirroed it on Github, along with two other releases I can find. https://github.com/Obso...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k-Win64 to run Mac OS 7-8 / AUX3.x / NetBSD
Build works great! I'm using it with MacOS 7.5.5 and it's been terrific. Love that it's "real" emulation, rather than hooking exceptions like Basilisk - MacBugs works now  Does anyone know if it's possible to specify the CPU emulation speed? It's super fast, which is generally great -...

Re: Using QEMU to explore the Mac OS Nanokernel
I already owned a G4 Mac and the Connectix VirtualPC emulation package that refused to run in the G5-driven Mac. Because M$oft that purchased VirtualPC 2003 from Connectix refused to fix it in order to work on G5, I was interested to give a try. Off topic, but isn't this related to the lack of litt...

Re: Old sources
+1 to the HFV Explorer source code.
I've mirrored a copy of the CDENABLE.SYS source on my collection of Basilisk II source dumps. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Z23 ... authuser=0
If you have any other versions I'm missing, I'd be happy to copy them there.

Re: So I was playing around with Basilisk II 0.8
Ooo it looks like Christian Bauer's Github repo contains the CVS commits from back in 1999 - so commit 8e491572ca420b22ff0366e594ce5b9248928e91 (https://github.com/cebix/macemu/commit/ ... 9248928e91) should be version 0.7.

I've been following the thread on your blog and figured you'd come here :) I have a small collection of Basilisk II Win32 versions at https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B7Z23kbbiG5Ja21ldmJhODNCQk0&usp=sharing Unfortunately the oldest source I have is from 18/6/2000, which I'm pretty sure wo...

Re: Mini vMac 3.2.3 for iPhone
I no longer have an iPhone dev account (I bought it for work while we were doing some mobile dev, and that's no longer happening, so I'm not wasting my money on it anymore). I have no idea if it would even be possible to compile it under Linux correctly. Last time I tried, the XCode project just bui...

Re: Mounting ISO from an Appleshare
Finally followed up on this.
Whether I use a netatalk or a real MacOS hosted AppleTalk share, the problem is the same. I simply can't mount a toast image in classic MacOS from an AppleTalk share.

Mounting ISO from an Appleshare
I'm attempting to mount some ISO/Toast images on a real Mac (LC475) from an AFP Netatalk volume. However I haven't found a tool that will let me do it! So far I've tried: - Toast 4 - Disk Copy (which will only mount the PC Side of a hybrid, and no HFS only images) - 'Toast Image Mounter' - 'Virtual ...

My understanding (I'll see if I can find a link) is that Classic uses the MMU in ways that aren't yet implemented QEMU's SoftMMU implementation.

Good work Cat7!
There's a Win32 build too http://virtuallyfun.superglobalmegacorp.com/?p=3242
I'd imagine the same instructions (sans disk image creation) should work. It must be possible to get qemu-img to produce a working image...

I didn't think to try a format other than VMDK. I'll have a go tonight :DCat_7 wrote: I installed on a .dmg disk image I made in OSX (and subsequently erased during installation), not on a vmdk disk image as suggested above. With that Jaguar was bootable.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
To be bootable for PPC Mac OS X, a disk not only needs to be formatted 'Mac OS Extended (journaled)', it also needs to be partitioned with 'Apple Partition Map'. You can install a system on a disk that is not correctly partitioned, but you cannot boot from that disk. Could that be the issue here? D...

I have been able to install Jaguar, but haven't been able to boot it yet. Make sure you have your install media disk images on hand in ISO format. Extract and copy the files: Download the PPC version from http://virtuallyfun.superglobalmegacorp.com/?p=3223 Extract the ZIP to a folder (say in your ho...

One of the bloggers I follow has got it to work with 10.2, albeit with some Palette issues:
http://virtuallyfun.superglobalmegacorp.com/?p=3197
There's some other notes on building it. Unfortunately I have a friends wedding to attend today, but might try a build myself later in the week.

Re: A/UX on MESS?
How I wish I had more spare time... Last time I tried MESS it wasn't able to boot AU/X. Whether that was my fault or MESS I'm not too sure. MESS has at least some MMU support on the 68020, not sure about the other processors. Also there is the beginnings of some PowerMac support there too (people wa...

Hi all Still lurking around. Ironically I updated the port so my daughter could play old games Mac educational games on the iPad, but she keeps me so busy I haven't had time to finish it. Re: Mini vMac 3.2.3 for iPhone
I download your source code, and you seems to use newer SDK, and XCode. I am using old XCode 3.2.6, because new XCode is slow to me. You are using Core Video API - CVImageBufferRef, and that will fail in my XCode version. I'll check the current code in soon, I no longer use the CoreVideo API, just ...

Re: Mini vMac 3.2.3 for iPhone
I've got a C# background myself, so it's been a fantastic learning opportunity for me. That said, other than updating the Glue code, most of the work was originally done by Jesús A. Álvarez who wrote the original iPhone port. I think getting the sound emulation working is beyond my capabilities, ind...

Re: Mini vMac 3.2.3 for iPhone
My iPad is on 5.0, the project is set for 5.0, but it should be able to be built for previous versions without issue. Screen redrawing seems fine, I at least haven't had any issues with it. It is faster drawing in BW than Colour which from memory was the same with the 68k Macs. A/UX does not work on...

Re: Mini vMac 3.2.3 for iPhone
It kind of works in 3.2.3 beta, although it's a bit distorted. It's more a case of I'm unsure of how to port the code to iOS in a state that works.
I've examined the Linux and OS X code, I'm going to take a look at the W32 code tonight and see if I can work it out.

Re: Mini vMac 3.2.3 for iPhone
Pushed up some more changes, this time around video performance and iPad support. Video is probably as good as I can get - it's much better than it was a few days ago. iPad support seems fine, keyboard will need a little work. Next up is sound. Again, if you've the means to build and run code on you...
