Re: SheepShaver on macOS Big Sur

Same here, SS appears to run just fine in Big Sur Beta. I ran some rather demanding image mining routines and could not detect any difference between BSB and Catalina. Be aware, that if you install BSB to a disk that drive is not back compatible to any previous version of MacOS without a fully erasu...

Re: I had to force quit out of SS and now - nada

yes, I am using May 4 version. And yes, I have two folders within which I have two May 4 SS. You have explained everything I need to now understand what is going on. Thank you. In fact, now my preferred folder is working again but the other SS does not. I think I just need to run out of a single fol...

Re: I had to force quit out of SS and now - nada

It hung while I was running my app. I have another, back up folder with SS in that and its own files. I think, but I am not sure that is uses its own pref file. I have the script to Delete Prefs file. but I have used it as I don't want to take a chance to mess up my working version. Thank you for th...

Re: I had to force quit out of SS and now - nada

I restored my SS folder from a Time Machine backup from this morning before crash. That folder lives in my Applications folder. After restoroing/overwriting the alleged corrupted version - SS still will not run. I have it running fine from another folder but not the folder I mainly use that has my p...

I had to force quit out of SS and now - nada

I am running the latest version of SS on an iMac running Mojave. I had to force quit out of SS because my app hung. Now, I cannot get SS to run. I would welcome any suggestions.

Thank you,

yes, that was the anomaly I was referring too. And the new build you pointed me to works fine on my machine and I have not seen the screen issue.

Thank you!

Re: SheepShaver not starting, MacOS Sierra

I haven't had quite as good luck. After I control escape SS and replace it, I get a screen that is the correct dimensions I chose but still has the disk with the question mark. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Re: 9.0 or 9.4?

Thanks. I would like to keep as current as possible. What is the best way to apply the update? I tried Software Update in the OS9 Control Panel but that way requires Internet connection which I have not implement in SS.

Thanks!

Re: 9.0 or 9.4?

Thank you! What is the best way to apply that updater? What does one gain from going from 9.0 -> 9.0.4?

I don't have access to Internet in my installation so I cannot follow the instruction exactly. Is there a way to access the update locally?
Really appreciate this.

Re: 9.0 or 9.4?

I guess I was not clear - when I get About this Computer it says I am running Version: Mac OS 9.0. Is there an even later version of OS 9 to run than 9.0? I thought I read here somewhere that some folks were running a 9.4 or a 9.0.4. If so, where might I find it and is there any advantages to doing ...

9.0 or 9.4?

I am running a straight OS 9.0 rom. Is there a later version and if so, where can I download it and is it better?

Thanks!

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

I don't have an original Scrapbook file to test on anymore. But I think we got to the problem or at least close. For fine if us 3D graphics are fatal.

Thank you all!

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

I've been able to repeat the Scrapbiok crash now on 3 different computers - all Intel based. I either get a hard crash and then corrupted prefs require a total rebuild of the SS prefs or a spinning beachball of death requiring a Force Quit and than a complete rebuild. I do think it might be 3D graph...

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

Can someone else check and see if accessing Scrapbook file crashes their SS? What I have learned is that of the 14 items in the scrapbook the crash occurs on item 3, 4, 5, or 6. What I have done as a workaround is to trash the Scrapbook file. But mainly I want to know if it is just my set up or not....

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

I didn't "hand-edit the scrapbook resource" I used copy and paste. In fact SS first crashed just by scrolling through scrapbook default content. I did get SS to load and I promptly jettisoned Scapbook file and things are somewhat back to normal. Thank you

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

No joy - because I cannot launch SS I cannot purge out the Scrapbook folder. To make matters worse - even after reinstalling SS and reseting all the preferences it won't launch a session. I think I am reusing some file that is corrupted but honestly I don't know which if or if so, which one. I guess...

Re: Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

Well, accessing Scrapbook crashed SS again and now it won't even reboot. So, clearly something is wrong with my installation or something has become corrupted from Scrapbook. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I suppose I need to reinstall SS now. But i need Scrapbook for some tasks.

Accessing Scrapbook Crashes SheepShaver

I am trying to update a splash screen on an app I wrote a few years ago that I need again. i am using ResEdit for that. When I copy and pasted my new splash to the scrapbook and try and access it, it results in a hard crash of SS. Also, this may or may not be related, when I go to the PICT resource ...
