Re: Qemu-system-m68k for Windows to run AUX 3.x

it'd been so long I'd forgotten! I never could get Shoebill to stay on the network for more than 12 hours so sadly it was unsuitable for hosting stuff. qemu040.root # uptime 2:35am up 18:13, 2 users, load average: 1.00 1.00 1.00 I know I'm tempting fate, but 18 hours now! I also have the system's up...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k for Windows to run AUX 3.x

I finally had some time today to look at A/UX and back in the Shoebill days people ran it off the CD-ROM which obviously isn't the way to go. Back then I'd been doing dump/restores onto disk images I'd partitioned under my Basilisk patch to do SCSI images. Another thing is that I found back then tha...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k for Windows to run AUX 3.x

something weird in how its picking up disks. it reads some partitioned disks i have but not all. the easy install will destroy anything (which is fine, its all virtual) so I overwrote my 8.1 2G disk and it's up. not sure why it wouldn't use fresh qemu-img disks for me..... maybe its the vendor check...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k for Windows to run AUX 3.x

i would have thought that my old shoebill stuff would work as they were partitioned and formatted, but no luck there.

even more weird any time I go to partition the disk it fails, just as trying to do a media test fails....... must be something locking it RO?

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Don't get me wrong, the progress is simply amazing on Qemu, but the jumpy mouse is driving me INSANE... It took what felt like an hour to open a terminal in OS X Server 1.2 ... As for the bluebox looking crazy it'll be the screen depth, much like the boot logo... Add the resolution / depth flags, an...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I can see the boot animation playing a couple of seconds, before it stalls. QEMU is still running fine, but boot does not progress beyond this point (I left it open for 20 minutes just to check). For the record, I tried booting it in single-user mode after this, but it stalls at the same point. Tha...

https://i.imgur.com/pmZp2qy.png Also I kinda worked around the weird installer thing and got Darwin 0.3 to install! You need to install OS 9, I used the G4 Cube version, onto a disk. Then get the Darwin 1.0 CD image, and copy the disk imaging tool to the hard disk. Then using that tool, restore the...

Re: is system 7.5.5 better than mac os 8.0?

I found networking in 8 to be more robust than 7, but for anything that plays weird games with the OS, stick with something basic and low. At least in the age of virtualization, having a separate profile per app is a thing.

10.2 and 10.6 were the greats of OS X. So much meh right now.

Ok, the install floppy seems to work, but the following happens: When I am prompted for the driver floppy, I insert it. It then asks me to choose between five different SCSI drivers for my CD-ROM drive. (This is odd because my CD-ROM drive is IDE) I choose a random SCSI driver (because it makes me)...

Re: gitorious version of system-m68k?

I'm actually the person who worked on the NeXT support for QEMU back in 2011. I never could get NeXTStep to boot properly, it would always fail trying to mount the root partition, and I never could figure out exactly why, despite hours of single stepping with GDB. Let me know if I could be of any h...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I tried running Doom 2 on Mac OS 9.0.4. Everytime a dialog appears asking me if it is ok to change the color settings to 256 colors. Everytime I click yes the screen goes completely black except for the control strip. The only thing I can do is reboot. :( I am glad to see a game like SimCity 2000 r...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Error -13? That usually only shows up when the extensions are disabled or if the color manager can't allocate memory to the palette. I'm going to try booting Mac OS 9 in 256 color mode, because it's possible there are issues allocating the color lookup tables/palettes and switching between resoluti...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I'm curious if anyone has used HFVExplorer to manually move across files to the guest hard drive, particularly for programs like Stuff-It Expander. I'd also suggest getting an IDE in of some sort, particularly one where you can write and compile a program that writes out a file that takes up 4096 s...

Good thought. I did that something similar some time ago and posted the result on Macintoshgarden. Did you remove A-Rose from the Extensions folder? You will know that it crashes BII and it is rather useless, except for a real Nubus Mac with a card looking for that extension. I want to say I did fr...

I need to take another shot at making WinUAE into a 'brain in a jar' I'm kind of motivated after finding the source code to UAE 0.1, and some other derivative UAE based 68000 projects, like System-16, and some old TI calculators.

Re: How to install 8.1 from ISO file (OSX 10.6.8)

I found that many 'iso' images out there aren't bootable, but have the files on them. It's a real pita.

This is why I took that System 7.5.3 on Apple's site, and converted it to a bootable ISO

https://sourceforge.net/projects/cockatrice/files/OS/

Maybe it'll help?

I found 8.1 to be more stable, and being bettr at mounting afs over ip.

Plus internet stuff, and all that jazz. I mean memory is cheap today, so it's not like I only have 12MB.

Plus you can drop in a gigabyte!
